Sweeping Fighters

I get this type of combat report periodically:

Catch is this is sweeping in an empty hex and I have no fighter set to sweep. Then I get plastered by B-17's as I have no CAP. Any ideas as to what this is?

This is usually the result of escorts not linking up with bombers.
For more information, I would need to see the save.

Your suggestion is possible, but I'm not sure.  Next time I see this (maybe later tonight), i will zip and post you a save.  Thanks!
