Leader bug

Post by erstad »

I have a couple of leaders who appear to be in command of more than one LCU. Tracker agrees.

I know you'll want the "before" save but I'll have to do a little binary search amongst all the saves to find the right before, so if someone could verify there really is a leader bug in this save before I do that it would be appreciated (versus, for example, if there were two leader entries that incorrectly had the same name but were different leader entries. I assume that's not the case because Tracker probably wouldn't get confused by that, but it's going to be a PITA to find the right before so I'd like to know this is useful first).

And of course if patch 2 squashes something that likely was the root cause of this, then I won't worry about it. But if no leader bugs were fixed in patch 2, I assume someone would like to see this one. It most likely was introduced during patch 1 but I'll have to verify that in case it happened back on the original release.

Last question - is it safer to leave this or reassign the leader?

Oh, I suppose one would like to know which units/leaders. there's a couple, but one of them in Kanda in charge of both 6th Division and the Guards Mixed Brigade.

I had a couple, sorted them out using WitPStaff. I fixed them and have not gotten any messages back in 20-30 turns now. I wonder if they were assigned in the scenario file to two different units?

If you look through the scenario files, you will probably find some LCUs with the same leader assigned.
I guess these are cases where a particular unit arrives and so-and-so was leader of that unit at the time, but he also a leader of some other unit much earlier.

Good hypothesis that I hadn't thought of, but I went back to an earlier save and both units are on map, and have different leaders.

I can see where some of the leader 'confusion' can crop up.
If a leader is assigned to a unit that splits up, the primary leader is assigned to the /A unit. But he is also by default, kept assigned to the parent unit.
If he is unassigned from the /A and assigned to another unit later, and then the subunits are merged again, the parent leader came forward again. Ending up in two places, but with only one 'true' LCU to command.

I have to think about this.
We have cater for stopping a leader from being assigned to more than one unit, but if the "unit" assigns him because he is already 'in place', then it doesn't check to see who else has him.
I think I can reverse check the leader/unit connections so it does a unit/leader check as well as part of the daily "Leader Reassignment" phase.

I remember having three leaders commanding two units. Two of those were Navy leaders commanding two ships. The other was a Chinese leader commanding two ground units. As stated above, I changed out one of each and have not seen any reappearance since then.
