airfield repair rates

Post by jackyo123 »

at what rate do ports and airfields repair at? I am trying to determine if my 1 to 2 runway hits per turn (which cost me usually 1 lost and 2 or 3 damaged planes) are going to buy me more than a day or so.

thanks

You've got to be kidding, 1 or 2 hits are repaired almost instantly... no need for engineers or supplies. Well having said that, IIRC, this was one area that was going to be improved on in a patch sometime.

I'm also finding the new air combat model pretty hard to actually close down an airfield ... guess I'm too used to my Angels in Nemo EA mod (witp) [;)]

You need a concerted effort by entire bombing groups to close down airfields now, but you can do it. Planes still seem to fly from them though, so not sure you can 100% close one.

I think I have detected one problem though. It seems far too easy to get to 100% runway damage with night time air raids. I did some tests in Burma with what air units India gets along with whatever I evac out of Singapore and completely shutdown every air field in Burma expect Rangoon so far using 5000' night time raids. So probably something that needs to be HR'ed. Height doesn't even really matter that much, it just takes a few days long so you could do the same thing at 10k'.

I'm finding it far more effective as well to spread out my squadrons to as many bases as possible to fly from instead of concentrating on a few big ones with a lot of support and HQ. It makes it far harder to shut me down that way.

Also, to answer the original question, 1/2 damage is definately not worth the cost. You need to be in the 20s/30s =)

no matter how big the airfield is, 1 or 2 hits means NOTHING. The bigger the airfield, the smaller gets your "nothing"...

My limited experience is that service rating matters if you want to keep your crates flying. Other then that the CAP nearly always launches..

My pilots are better, now doing maybe 15 hits/turn. the enemy no longer sends cap up, but he does escort betty raids out of the base.

Do we know the repair rate?
