Playing in Windows 7

Post by bushman777 »

I am running windows 7 x64 pro and when I try to play witpae I get a box view of the game. I am running an nvidia 285 with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 and I have used the command line switches in the shortcut for full screen and daily saves. When I put my xp hard drive in it fills the screen no problem. Any clues to how to get it full screen in Win7?

regards

No, I've the same problem. It's a 4:3 screen on a wide monitor and for some reason Window 7 doesn't allow the game to use the whole screen. I also tried running it under a different campatibility setting but nothing I try will work.

Same problem. My solution as suggested to me was using my Nvidia controls to set to use Nvidia scaling and not monitor scaling. That worked and gave me full screen as per my Vista installation.

Will obviously only work with Nvidia cards and newish drvers.

My trouble with the NVIDIA drivers is that whatever I set the NVIDIA scaling to, it never appears to change. But it does, in fact, change, it's just in the Control Panel that it never shows the right current setting. I use windowed mode, anyway, can't stand the blurriness of scaling.

I do not understand, so you want windowed or full screen? To get full screen try this:

In Nvidia control panel

On the left "Change flat panel scaling" and then select "Use NVIDIA scaling"

If you cannot select or hold that selection (only display bult-in scaling), try first reducing the screen resolution to any resolution below the native one and then "Use NVIDIA scaling"

This should work [;)]

I managed to get witpae to go full screen by using the nvidia control panel as ChrisReb suggested (thanks again) and had the same issue with the nvidia control panel not keeping the change, but changing it anyways.

Works fine for me on Windows 7 Pro x86, with an ATI 4850. I am using monitor scaling, so it keeps the 4:3 aspect ratio.
