So... was it worth the wait?

Armada 2526 continues the great tradition of space opera games. You guide your race from its first interstellar journeys, until it becomes a mighty galactic empire. Along the way, you'll explore the galaxy, conduct research, diplomacy and trade, found new colonies, maneuver mighty star fleets, and fight epic battles.

Well the waiting is over, and now all the funny remarks of impatience can now be forgotten. [>:]

So... how is the game? [&:]

Let's see where to start? I can hardly start to express myself about this game. It's It's well it's indescribeable atm. It's like it's out there in thin air waiting to apease me, but, I just can't quite grasp it yet. I can see that it's playable, but, I'm not sure about it's stability yet. Perhaps if I downloaded it I might have a different venue? [:D]

The AI pretty much crushed me with several cruisers in my first game (normal difficulty) and I have like multiple unanswered questions left about the game (need to play more). So far I like it.

The first battles were a bit underwhelming (just like with Sword of the stars demo infact) but once I played further the battles did get better and now Im clearly enjoying them. In the latest battle I had almost some hope with those planetary missiles taking out two cruisers. I wish I had the new destroyers with me. I might have had a chance. Maybe next time.

I need more time to play this but I need to go to work tomorrow.

Downloading now. I'll let you know soon. I'll be posting a review after I've had a night or two with the game. The review will be posted on the "Elemental Forums" which is where I heard about Armada 2526.

I'm a old school gamer. My first PC game was Buck Rogers on the Commodore back in the late 80's early 90's. The game was a Tape and the PC its-self ran off tapes like a cassette player. From there I went to Masters of Orion and Masters of Magic, then X-Com and TftD. Man those were the days. For some reason the first Armada slipped through my fingers and I never heard about it. Lets hope Armada 2526 captures that old school MOO feeling.

Patients is not a virtue I posses, my friend. ;) It's good to see you here as well. It looks like you've had your eye on this for a while now.

If you lack patience, then you will fit in well here. We all lack that virtue in these forums. [;)] However there are a few here that can hold out better than the rest of us.

Yes I have patience because I've played these things since the dawn of home based pc games. I could probably design a better game than most are releasing today. I just need some backers?? Any takers? Lend me your money? Lots of money. [:D]

I do have a question though for you that have it already. What is the combat speed like? I've read the battles are only 3 minutes long maximum is this so? If it is how much clicking and scrolling must you do? Does it feel like a clickfest during the battles? If you've played Mad Minutes 2nd Manassas how would you compare the battle speed to that game?

I had the good luck of being accepted into the beta. :)

This is the first game since MoO2 that comes close to provide as much fun. You're in for a treat!

OK, now I'm almost pushed over the edge to buy now. That's a pretty good comparison. I have a pile of space games that have not even come close to the MoO series. I spent my money on Sins Of A Solar Empire (hate it), Sword Of The Stars (OK but needs work), GalCiv2 (not too bad), Space Empires series (OK), Smugglers 4 (Small and repetitive), Alpha Centauri (best of the bunch besides MoO2 and not 100% space game), and many more. I'm ready for something that compares to MoO2. [&o]

Do the battles have an auto resolve option? [&:]

Calm down LarryP you know how some gamers always overreact with "This is the bestest game I ever played" or my favorite "This is the best game ever". They can't have played long enough into it to know everything about the game or whether it's really all that once they reach the end of a campaign. I remember that feeling when I first started playing Rome Total War and Hearts of Iron only to find out later on all the flaws and bugs and retarted AI they have. So, calm down calm down stick with me bro....Bro?? BRO??! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??!! [:'(]

Relax LarryP, I'm lurking and reading too. Shoot, I'm still waiting on BTR's patch before I jump in on that one.

I own GalCiv 2 and addons, SOTS, but not all the addons, Sins, and MOO2, which I loved. I'm hoping this is good, but I can afford to wait.

I sure do want to buy Armada, but patience Grasshopper, soon...[:)]
