This is getting to be a problem!

Post by gillesvin2 »

Ever since installing the upgrade (and the 'hotfix' and/or command line switches ie I have tried combinations), the game crashes. I reinstalled the original, upgraded and installed again the hotfix - still crashes. Also, every time I check for an upgrade the system tells me there is a newer version (.....time passes..... it does things) then I am told I am already on the latest version, but when I load a saved gameI get a message about versions and keys (answer Y/N - I answer yes)..... after starting a 'round' it crashes! I am, to put it politely, getting fed up.

Besides any help on the above (if it cannot be resolved,I would seek a refund) - how can I download (from Matrix) an uptodate version without a purchase?

Sounds like you are doing the right things, but are you sure you doing a 'clean' reinstal?  If part of the original installation has been corrupted, can you be sure that the reinstallation has overwritten whatever was corrupt.  If you completely delete the original installation before installing afresh, you should avoid any such problem.  This is the only thing that occurs to me; hope it helps.

Go to the Contol Panel and Add/Remove Programs. Remove AE from there. Then go to the install folder and delete any remaining files. Reboot. Reinstall.

Hi both - done all that....... What I really want to do is start the process anew ie download the game and go from there. But the 'download' button on my original order no longer works and there is now way I am going to repurchase the game...

And you didn't make a back up or get an extended download? Not that I can help you, but damn that's asking for trouble... maybe if you are really nice to Erik, he might help ...

Hi N - yes, I purchased the extended service and did take a copy of the download - but hoped (still hope - andI have logged a problem record) that I could download an uptodate version without going through the rigmarol etc.
