P-38 lightnings

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

P-38 lightnings

Post by Tuk »

Playing against the Allied AI in 1943 I notice that it frequently sends swarms of these planes to bomb various targets. Thing is, none have ever scored any damage whatsoever. Always 0 damage to any target.

Not in my games. The P-38 is a major railyard destroyer

Tuk;

I second Lanconic, except it is the P-38J version.

Too bad there isn't a method to track Locomotives destroyed. [:D]

That's very odd. I speak with no dramatic effect but quite literally, they NEVER do any damage in my game.
I'll get you some screenies.

Is there an openable file that players can check to see if the values are correct?

Did you change the drop tanks for bombs?. I did that mistake at the beginning.

I haven't touched anything on the Allied side, I'm playing LW. Is it possible the AI has not changed drop tanks for bombs?

How would I find out what the other side's command is? They fly in from fields in both the Northwest European and Italian theatres.

well, if the coming from the Med, that should be 12th, and they should have bombs

the 9th should also have bombs, the 8th will not (top of my head, 20th, 55th, 364th and the 479th FGs will be in the 8th)

(when unit is in air, and you have info on it, I thought the Unit id showed up)

I've never noticed any info on unit ID, just the number of planes in the formation. But how does knowing the unit help me find out whether it's armed with bombs or drop tanks and change it if need be?

well more for me, if it is coming from the VIIIth, then it shouldn't be doing it

but when you mouse over a unit, you don't get any details ?

on the attack, it only says so and so many attacking

ron - you're looking at the attacker reaction.

the defender does not see the unit ID to prevent them from targetting one unit to destruction. Imagine if they knew where No617 was every turn it flew?

roger (why I asking, I either in a Allied game, or a Head to Head game) but, then it should work the same way ?

I got a pretty good idea where JG 26 is at as the attacker (which from radio intel, and other intel stuff I would anyway, most units were known, but it was the surprises that got everyone, every once in a while)

(in the MED there was almost no FOW during late 43-44, they were getting all of the QM reports, radio reports, so knew how many LW planes were lost each day, and why)

yeah but if the BTR German Player knows which unit in the air is the 56th FG, he could target that one to destruction by throwing everything at it, killing off as many to-be-ace pilots as possible. This wouldn't be wise... Sure, you can see who they are when you are close, but once you're in combat range you don't care who they are - you just want to shoot.

The allies knowing, guessing or observing which unit on the ground is II/JG26 isn't such a big deal as they can move, take off or fight.

Well, as LW player I can confirm that I can't see squat who I'm dog fighting with but the Lightnings still won't bomb me though the AI player keeps sending them on bombing missions.
