Crash on custom game screen

Game crashes (exception -OoB index) when you select as player race #X in the list and reduce the number of factions below X (ie select the last race then reduce nr of factions just once).
The custom game screen isn't very friendly : last settings aren't saved, race change is tedious (browsing through a randomly ordered list, a selection window will be much better), lastly there's no "restart" feature as in GC when you start in a hopeless poor planet. Having a random starting planet quality isn't very nice either , they should all be the same quality for balance and interest sake.
