Talonsoft graphics?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Talonsoft graphics?

Post by simovitch »

I found this screenie for 12 o'clock high showing proportional airplanes and shadows. Not that the old stuff is better - it looks like 8 or 16 bit images and the newer images are sharper and 24 bit.

I never owned the original game - can anyone attest to this? When were the graphics changed?

yes, the art was changed (if you could zoom in close to those old planes, you would be really shocked at what you would see)

the art that was done, was set up on one sheet, and what the artist felt like, is what we got, Harley with a Higher Res art could do things with in the code, to make the changes

I think what the modder is trying to do, is resize, each panel (lot of work)

The beauty is you could scale them... (although still too large for my tastes)

I wish I could use the icons here. I even tried the patch, but my roundels will not show any new raid or formations... detected, identified, doesn't matter. They won't show up until I toggle to planes and back to roundels. And I have to do that every single time a new formation takes off if I want to see it using roundels. I believe my problem lay in a difference in coding between the orginal and however the roundels were implemented.

"Lose" is the opposite of "win." "Loose" is the opposite of "tight."

the old game had a very early form of 3D art, it didn't work with Windows, so was cut out, early stages, it was decided to use the art type from the UV/WitP games, only both of those games don't use the plane art like this game does

so, they really were not the best choice of art type, but, that is what we got, and what we worked with, until we could get it to work

(Harley needs a different size art, so he can work it with the code, to resize it to type, what we have now is too small, distorts when played with)

I will put the counters on the list to look at for the next patch, too late to try and add it onto this one

The proportional fighter mod that I'm doing is a heck of a lot of work, but it will be worth it. The new sharper graphics allow the smaller fighters to still look good. If it's done before Patch #1 feel free to include it.
