impassable terrain / 'other'

Post by gwgardner »

In consts.csv see the following:

#Unit type;Plain;Forest;Rough;Swamp;Hills;Mountains;Desert;Other;enemy ZOC penalty;;;;;;;;
Infantry;1;1;2;2;2;2;1;1000;1;;;;;;;;
Motorized;1;2;3;4;2;3;1;1000;1;;;;;;;;
Armor;1;2;3;4;2;3;1;1000;1;;;;;;;;

Why couldn't one create impassable terrain by setting the terrain type to 'other?'

[later: sorry, this should be in modding sub-forum]

I've been waiting to see if someone from WI was going to respond BUT..

Anyway I believe what you propose would require modding the map, which as far as I know is not possible.

Also, which terrain do you want to make impassable? Just curious.

The next best thing to being clever is being able to quote someone who is.

You weren't there Thursday... You MISSED it!

Some of the mountains in the Caucausus, The Qatar Depression.

Is each hex on the map hard-coded with a terrain type, and are none of those set to 'other?' How is it that they would set up a map that can't be modded? Makes no sense to me.

My offer in thread: Impassable still stands, Gary. If it isn't too many hexes. [:)]

Thx. I remember your rather elegant solution. Just haven't taken the time to write down the hex numbers.
