Turn 2 to Speedy....and don't expect to see it back for a while ....as Allied turn two is like Japanese turn one.....one more HR agreed last week.....which I don't think I've mentioned.....as an add on to any Kwantung area units must have PPs paid before moving out of theatre......now, no Kwantung troops can move into China......at all.......until 1944....to try and balance the game play in China....
I had said ....to myself....that in AE I was going to be far more organised and use all the utilities...take notes and make no silly mistakes......but alas....I wandered around the map with no sense of order......closed the turn and sent it off.......

I found Tracker to be a must utility to run Japan's economy. [&o]
Some like "Staff" that comes with the game, but I have used Tracker for too long to switch.
I know a lot of Japanese players focus on buying out LCUs for the first few months, but don't overlook the importance of making sure you Zero and Betty daitai have good leaders. Your Nell/Betty at Saigon will need them if you hope to get them to accept replacement and then get their morale back up (high inspiration rating) after their initial attacks on Force "Z."

Thanks for the thoughts ny59............I am going to try tracker....and Mike Solli just sent me some spreadsheet stuff which looks great.....I'll have to try to get around the fact that I'm a bit of a 'slap-dash' player....which was bad for WitP....but for AE is really bad.....
My PP point priority...is Imp.G Bgd for PM......Air Div for North Japan.....and then will look at my leaders.....spending 1/3 of PPs every turn on leaders for the first month or so........and thanks....I will look to replacing the Betty leaders early on.......

Good luck! I will be following the Penguinistas in their quest for revenge. I don't remember if this has been asked before, but in case it hasn't - can it be assumed that your fearless fighters are Emperor penguins?

I figure I have two choices in this particular game. I can either support fabertong, who's a nefarious supervillain who'll stop at nothing until he holds the entire world in his flippers and has enslaved us all, or I can support Speedy, who's a 13 year old girl with pig tails.

And unfair to our feathered brother. This should not be a mini-THREAD. Sorry, faber; beat Speedy muchly.

Dec 8th 1941..........
A lot of surface action to start the war.......
DDs Yugumo and Hokaze intercepted the TK Manatawny off Catanduanes.....she was sunk.
The RN DDs Scout, Thanet and Thracian moved to hit Pescadores...I had expected this.......and had 2 DDs on picket duty 2 hexes out....... they intercepted and fought a running battle all the way into Pesca.....the fight was inconclusive...and my DDs low on ammo retired to the East.......when the sun came up the RN DDs caught the only 2 AKs at Pesca and sank them......complete with the Const. Bat on board......bugger.....but this was not the end for these plucky little DDs as the moved on to Laoag and intercepted one of my Luzon Invasion forces....scoring only one hit......as I suspect they were low on ammo......they were attacked by Nells later in the day....but were undamaged.....so, well done Royal Navy....
Then it was the turn of the USN to roar.......Marblehead and 5 DDs attacked my Manado invasion force....I had thought they would show up....but not until next turn.......CA Chokai and 2 DDs were protecting.....but the USN got the better of this daytime action......sinking 4 AKs and an APD......for the loss of one DD......this USN TF was attacked....by the my Kates from the covering AAG....but they too escaped.......so, well done USN.......
Subs.......oh, dear Thread the subs.......Speedy once more showed hit skill sinking the DMS W-4 off Brunei with KXIV......the sinking xAK Iburi Maru and xAK Awajisan Maru with KXI at Khota Bharu....and then SS-39 sank the DMS w-14 off Antimonan....although S-39 was reported sunk in this action......KVIV then hit another AK off Brunei....but was badly damaged by the escorts........
Weather was poor across the Pacific......so very few air missions flew......Nells hit an AP in Manila harbour ....but not much else.......I could see POW(I think)....but Saigon airgroups didn't fly due to the bad weather......Also spotted what looks to be Boise near Legaspi.....again no Betty/Nells attacked her....and she may move to hit my Ati...invasion force.
Tarawa/Appari/Ternate and Brunei all fell......
The biggest head-ache is that even though my Luzon invasion groups are set on Absolute/direct.....PTs and MTBs have scared them back toward Taiwan...at a cost of 4 PTs for the allies...and no losses for me......I really should have checked the TFs commanders for agressiveness....doh......I am trying to entice Steven to attack my beach-heads...but timing is everything......and if he takes the bait....I may be in trouble.

Dec 9th, 1941..........
Surface action again comes to the fore......with USS Lousville Attacking the Tarawa invasion force......after a sharp battle....I lost the AK Tenyo Maru.....Louisville returned to it's base of operations.....which, sadly for me was Nauru Is...and she arrived just as my invasion force did.....I lost a PB and four AKs......and most of the troops........ouch........also a USN TF with Boise and Houston attacked the Antimonan TFs.....CL Natori and her 6DDs chased them away....no damage on either side.....
I lost I-154 to a mine off Singers.....
Subs once more also did well for Steven......I lost the PB Heiei Maru to KXVI....the AK Yamagiku Maru to SS Pike.....AK Ikuta Maru to KXIII....and another badly damaged by another Dtch boat...the last 2 lost at Khota Baru.......
My Betty/Nells out of Taiwan did sink AL Pres. Madison....AO Pecos.....and the AK Yu Sang.......
My SAGs at Vigin did also destroy 8 MTB/PTs.......
A good agressive start for Speedy....I would expect no less.....

Dec. 10th 1941
Speedy's subs still up to no good.....DD Oshio sunk off Kota Bharu by a Dutch boat.....DD Satsuki sunk by SS Salmon.......also lost an APD to a Dutch boat off Djailolo....and an AK to SS 020 at Miri
My Subs hit back.....with the sinkings of the TKs Iris/Strix and Manvantara.....
The Boise/Houston SAG came again to Atimonan.....my 8 dd SAG drove them off at night...but they returned by day....and after a sharp contest...... I traded the Ariake for a badly damaged Peary........
A SAG of 2CLs and 3 DDs intercepted the CA Loiusville just off Ocean Is.......she was low on ammo.....and made a run for it.......she escaped heading SSE..........
The real bad news of this turn was the weather over Taiwan.....this grounded my fighters......but not the bombers....who went in unescorted.....and were shredded.......I lost 10+ Lilys and almost as many Sallys......and also 12 Nettys.....
My AAG near Atimonan caught and hit 2 AKLs and an AK off Cebu.......and then finished off the crippled DD Peary and her escort the John D. Ford......Alas they then attacked the DD Thanet holed up in Manila Bay.......and I lost 6 Kates and a Zero to the CAP......
Kota Bharu fell.....
My airlosses this turn were far to high......but the Vigin Beach-head is now secure......and Atimonan will be in the next 2 turns.....will Speedy come out to play?

Dec 11th and 12th 1941........
On the 11th my SAG(2 CAs + escorts) at Miri pulled out to head East to support future landings......at the same time Speedy sent in a SAG( 4CLs and escorts) to Miri.....I had left a single CL.....Isuzu on picket duty....and she sank Tromp with a long lance....but was then forced to retire......I then lost 5 AKs and (gulp) 2 fast APs........a disaster mostly of my own making.........
Other than that.....It's just war a susual.....I sank a handful of AK/APs......escaping from Singers....from my Airfield at Kota Bhuru......and my AAG covering the Tarakan landings(next turn)......also sank 5 AKs.........
The Boise group has moved North toward Taiwan....and was Attacked by Nettys.....although not hit.......bold......
