What's still missing in the Matrixgames Library of games?

A Napoleonic era strat game based on the WbtS & WAWAWD engine would be cool, imo.
RE: What's still missing in the Matrixgames Library of games?
Still hankering for the ultimate strategic/operational level Vietnam game.
RE: What's still missing in the Matrixgames Library of games?
A fantasy, turn and hex based game would be great. I don't know if it needs to be a known lore such as LotR. Recently picked up Fantasy Wars and have play a few of the battle sets. That is the type game I'm talking about and take it a step further with a WCS style strategic/battles layers that would be outstanding.

I would settle for that too, but I really do not want the eye candy of Fantasy Wars or even Age of Wonders....I would like to see a fantasy game designed along the lines of a traditional wargame, hexes nato type units, etc. There is potential for a nice strategic wargame derived from the Wheel of Time books which could have traditional elements.

And while I think about it, a PC port of either Attack Vector or Saganami Island. Matrix should go talk with Ad Astra.

Not exactly what you describe, but have you looked into King Arthur: the roleplaying wargame? Looks very interesting from comments I have read.

Would love to see the Panther Games' engine ported back to the Napoleonic Wars, the American Civil War and WWI.

Or even better yet a strategic level WW2 game based upon the Panther engine.
Really though what is missing? A strategic contemporary game, one that has the map of the world, pitting different regions of influence against each other, economically, diplomatically and militarily. Sort of like Supreme Ruler, but different, simplier, like the SC series. Give us the WiF in today's mode, but simplier, so it only takes one turn for PBEM, not all those phases.
I want "Search for Red October" and "Red Storm Rising" combined....weren't those TSR releases?
Give me an empire building game based on today's war machine dynamics but keep the complications down, so the UI is intuitive and that incompetent AI can be a bit of a challenge for the first game or two and then turn me loose on you hapless humans.
I want to be "Emperor of the World"[:D]

For me, a Strategic TURN/HEX BASED game for Lord of the Rings, along the lines of SPI's WAR FOR THE RING...
+ 1 !! [&o]
Although to be fair, I wouldn't particularly care if it were set in the "Tolkien-verse". Any fantasy setting would do, I think.
Of course, given what I've seen regarding Elemental: War of Magic, that game may very well end up fulfilling most of my wishes.... [8D]

Thanks for the link as I'll keep an eye on that...I was reading the forum and there is a good post regarding the type of play the game will have. Apparantly it will be "continuous time " play

You're welcome. [:)] Yes, the strategic portion of the game will take place with simultaneous turns, and the battles have been referred to as "continuous turn-based". I'm not sure exactly what the latter means, although I have a vague idea that it may be like the combat in Birth of the Federation.
I don't believe the game is actually hex-based (although I suppose it could be under the hood). Still, I've been wanting a 4x fantasy strategy game for a long time now, and Elemental looks like it will deliver.
Now we just have to wait the 6-9 months before it's released!

I agree about the sports management games. There is a huge gap in the market for an American football manager game. People are still playing front office football 2007 and there aren't any plans that I know of for anyone to release anything newer. I know it isn't the typical matrix game, but I am amazed nobody has filled this gap in the market since FoF ended. There are a lot of football fans around with money to spend.

I would certainly be interersted in an American Football Mngt. game, too. I think it's the best game in the world and it would give me great pleasure to manage the Jets to a second World title!ORIGINAL: jaxpac

I was going to mention EA's HEAD COACH 2010 as a US Football management sim but apparantly it has been scrapped. The earlier version of the game was not that bad, though it lacked some of the depth you would find in other SMS... it was cool watching the games through Maddens graphics engine....

World title sounds a bit funny if you consider that there is no real competition outside the US, and if you consider that the European FL holds quite some seasoned (discarded) NFL players. [:D] A world title in soccer... ok, but football? [8|]
I'm not trying to depreciate the quality of US teams, tho, don't get me wrong. [:)]

Why hex based? You have hex based tactical in Forge of Freedom and Crown of Glory. Play that. [:)]
I believe I said:
A Civil War/Napoleonic Wars hex based wargame that supports all resolutions with full map and scenario editors.
The John Tiller Battleground series has all of that I think.

Strategic and/or Tactical (not to be confused with real time) of the Sengoku Jidai period of medival Japan. Seems like a great period to game, with not a lot of competitors in the marketplace that aren't "real time".

We had a forummember in the Advanced Tactics forums who was busy developing a mod for the game precisely that; a medieval tactical turn based game in Japan. He had some posts ... a long time ago, apparently he stopped developing the mod. [:(] It looked promising though.
