Sub Warfare: KXVII sank xAK Kinryu Maru near Oosthaven. Reinforcements for the stalled attack on Palembang have landed here and are already moving north. xAKs Yamasimo and Tohuku Maru also took a bomb hit each during this operation.
Near Truk Gudgeon sank the small TK Moji Maru after missing an AO a day earlier.
These victories did not come without a cost though as S-39 sank while it tried to escape the PIs. I have learned that the "damage control party trapped in flooded compartment" message is one of the more nasty ones. You'll get a big increase in flooding and sys damage at the same time.
Malaya: 2 of the 3 units cut-off at Malacca have surrendered. The last Indian brigade hangs on stubbornly though. At Singapore itself both sides are trading bombardment attacks. Supply levels are very good at the base. Contrary to normal Witp I don't think it is necessary to ship supplies here in the beginning.
DEI: The invasion of Balikpapan has begun. A reinforced infantry regiment should sadly be enough to overcome the defenders. The dutch bombers continued to impress me with their lousy aim though as usual CD gun fire managed to hurt a couple of vessels. The minefield got a single hit on PB Saiko Maru as well.
The great dutch fighter pilots did score a great aerial victory over the IJNAF though. For no loss they shot down several fighters here. The allied propaganda machine perhaps shouldn't mention that they were all Petes though.
On Java two cut-off units recovered Semerang and might indeed make it back to Soerabaja. Their combat value is near nil - two regiments managed an adjusted AV of 3 against an empty base - but every single man counts.
China: Changsha's forts have been reduced to 1 and it will soon be over I fear. The defensive raw AV is just over 1000 now (started at ~3000) after several weeks of bombardments and air attacks.
In the south a SNLF was landed at Kwangchowan and ~5 more units are heading towards Nanning.
Meanwhile a guerrilla corps took back an empty Kanhsien. It would have been nicer though if the IJA had left any supplies there.
