It should have turned up on Friday, I already had to do four days at work that I didn't want to do. If it doesn't show tomorrow then I'm back to work again on Wednesday, on the plus side as it's our first they'll probably induce her on Friday at latest. So I'll avoid the night shift...

You should've lived in Sweden. This is what wikipedia says about paid paternity leave here; [;)]

"480 days (16 months) (62.08% (80% of 80% of 97%) up to a ceiling the first 390 days, 90 days at flat rate) - shared with mother (dedicated 60 days) + 10 working days in connection with the child's birth"

I believe that there is currently a plan here in the UK for 6 months, to be shared between the parent's however they want.  One parent could have all 6 months off or they could both have three each for example.  TBH, my current working pattern is quite good for time with wee 'un.  Apart from the time I have to spend out east I work 4-5 days of 12 hours and get 4-5 days off.

Neat. I'm glad that there's some public support for paternal leave. Pretty important stuff that is underappreciated, IMO. I forgot where I read that the average American father takes less than a week of paternity leave (like 3 days)[8|]
