Don't that just tweak your toes, Martin? To look on your first born son for the first time.

Well then a glass - hell, a tun - of the best; to Joshua Michael Alcock.

Thanks guys.  The poor little tyke already has his father's hairline...

Judging by the confused/terrified look on Pops' face, I'd say thats the least of his problems right now. [:D]

I think that's the standard issue, Waxy Grimace Of The First-Time Father Mk 1 Mod 0.

Hi all,

Yuri, it will change the DNS on your PC regardless of what DNS service you use does for that entry...

In other words, the site is still there but its but being referred to correctly?

Yep... the MatixGames site is still where it was but they forgot to renew the 10 year lease and new "placeholder" DNS propagated through Internet... many ISPs now have wrong IP address for www.matrixgames.com - the only "easy" way is to manually enter the correct IP address into your computer host table until all DNS for all ISPS resolve the issue...

Hi all,

Good Thread, I'm bored...[>:][>:]

You and Martin still playing ED-BTR PBEM?

We're still playing, after a slight diversion caused by work and getting ready for baby.

It's been a good experience so far, a little on the bloody side but that's mostly caused by different tactics to the real life combatants and larger numbers of aircraft being involved. As I said to T, the ratios seem pretty good (mostly cos I'm shooting down more than I lose) but the numbers are skewed towards the higher end of the scale. A 2:1 loss ratio isn't too noticeable when the LW are losing 20 or so aircraft. When the numbers are up towards 100 in a day then things look a lot worse than they are.
Like most Matrix games, it needs a human opponent to get the most from it. T has pulled some surprise moves that the AI couldn't have done and hopefully I've managed to provide a sterner test for him than the AI would have done.

I'd also say HS and the team have done a good job with representing the aircraft. My Whirlwind squadron has seen cock all action, but their high speed and good weapons has resulted in good performance when needed. Conversely the Spitfire Ib has punched far below its ability.

If time (and Dixie MkII) allows, I'll post a single day AAR from the next turn I play over in the BTR forum.

Thanks for info Martin! [:)]

Yup. I felt it was time for a new Avatar. If you look closely, you may notice that the lion is staring at well known Thread personae in the bottom left corner. For our neighbourly relations, I will change that when I get home in the evening though [;)]

Otherwise, today during our Vietnam wargaming, I'm known as "Comrade Ho Chi Grollub". The Red side students are currently giving me a brief on their operational assessments of the military situation in 1965. We're having a break just now, though.

Well, Grollub... I suppose I COULD make a complicated tableaux involving the three Danish lions and a Monty Python foot crushing your mangy, flea-bitten old house cat...[:'(] But it's easier to just do THIS:

Morning chaps [:)]  MkII did OK with his first night out in the big wide world, he managed a couple of 4 hour stints of sleep broken up by crying.  Not hungry, didn't need a nappy change he just wanted cuddles   He stopped crying almost as soon as one of us picked him up.
