Internal tension

Post by Razz1 »

When playing Germay the event Internal tension pops up.
Is the message incorrect?

Damn = SU increase by 5

Convince the people = SU increase by 20 AND PP decrease by 500

Shouldn't this be a decrease in SU for the cost in PP?

What is the benefit of choosing the second option?

If you choose the second option does the event stop popping up so you eliminate social unrest?

Here is another example of an event that needs attention, first it appears quite severe and what I find upsetting is that it fires when Germany is winning. I think it should trigger when German losses exceed a certain point or if possible when their territorial gains start to reverse significantly.

Actually Hitler was worried about support in Germany for the war, and he kept the consumer goods production far higher than the Military might have wanted. The German people were expecting a relatively easy time of the conflict and did not realize that huge sacrifices were needed until the Allied bombing started to bite. The population was not as aware of the state of affairs in the East until Stalingrad made it clear that something was wrong. By the time Germany was in deep trouble there was a realization that the Soviet's advances were a disaster which demanded great sacrifices indeed.

I think the option to continue with the "Damn" option until it gets too bad, and then having to pay a wicked price is rather elegant. I never like this event as the Axis, but I support it as a well thought out feature.

I look at this as the Albert Speer event. It's fine.

It's like Chuck said, basically. Germany, and this is rather ironic, was just about the last major power in WW2 to fully mobilize for war. Hitler armed for breadth, not depth, and believed he could win wars quickly and cheaply. He worried constantly about German morale, kept rations high, and underutilized women in the workforce.

After Stalingrad the bloom was most definitely off the rose and Hitler brought in the Speers and Guderians to rationalize the war economy and start waging total war for real, as his opponents had been doing for some time. And he finally set Goebbel's propaganda machine in motion to prepare the German public for these measures.

The event simulates this deliberate policy choice by the Nazis and imposes a cost on the player to change it. You, as the German player must make that same choice as to when you're going to get serious about total war and take the necessary propaganda and economic measures to sustain it.

Another reason we need full disclosure of events.

Thank you, so this would suggest that the event should trigger any time after Germany gives up on invading Great Britain but most definitely after Stalingrad. I think there needs to be 3 options:

Damn - increasing social unrest with the chance of it reoccurring.

More Butter - the large PPts penalty, representing more domestic spending. Also a small chance of triggering again

Total War - a larger jump in social unrest, due to more military spending. No chance of repeating due to Propaganda and The Gestapo.
