Katana vs Vetkin

Bit of a breakthrough in the south, one Stuart and HQ squad destroyed, engineers on the run, cavalry once more forging ahead.
Spotted two more Stuarts rolling up to join the battle, though. Can't let them slow me down too much.
Few casualties in the centre, but another Stuart is destroyed.
Up north, the fighting is concentrated around the Vhexes. another squad and a Stuart are destroyed. Nearby infantry is moving to intercept the raiders heading towards the melee.
Let's see, that's 20 of those blasted M3 (<-Should've thought of that sooner
) and a dozen more sighted. That's what? two companies? Awful lot of armor for a jungle fight...
Points-wise the rates of attrition don't work out in your favour.
OTOH three .30s is GOOD against infantry. But you won't have enough ammo to kill all those 18 men squads:D

Now I know why the Americans nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki...
18 men per squad?? No wonder they seldom retreat. Grrrr
Type 92 HMG destroyed in the middle, along with an SNLF squad and a Stuart.
An immobilized Stuart is also de-crewed in the South. 3 flame tanks are still advancing. A few tries to assault end up in failure.
The North is holding but I don't know for how long.
The middle is still OK but there are just too many Japanese!!! Literally a horde of them!!!!!!!!!

Slow turn. only one M3 merely immobilized, dispatched some more infantry and crewmen. Raides in the north are beaten back, so are the DC squads in the south.
Your tanks in the middle are in danger of getting stampeded

The Americans take advantage of the Japanese force's lack of action.
To the far North, a Stuart's crew has re-entered their vehicle and pushes back some infantry. An SNLF HQ squad in the Northern VHes is promptly ripped to shreds by infantry.
In the middle where my Stuart wedge has advanced the farthest, an SNLF squad is wiped out. A 75mm Type 90 AT gun left in the open is also blown to bits. One of my Stuarts is immobilized in the process.
To the south 2 flame tanks are ambushed by my Shermans. One is de-crewed. The other simply bursts into flames.
75mms smash into Jap positions south where I suspect a third Flame tank is hiding.

Another Stuart protecting the northern VHs dies, as well as some of the accompanying soldiers. More japanese moving in to clear the area.
Your tanks in the centre are almost completely surrounded. Give them up now and I'll let the crew walk home unharmed.
(Except for those that died in their rolling coffin this turn)
Still pushing ahead in the south, advancing yard by bloody yard. The american line is definitely thinning out. Didn't see any Shermans
BTW that 75mm FG of mine was all but useless anyway; No AT shells.

Surrender those M3s?? So the Japs can drape a flag over them and start using them as M3 "Keishanas"? Hmmmmm let me think about that.... NO!!!!
The Marines, infuriated with this offer fight hard this turn. In the farNorth a few crewmen are slaughtered. An immobilized Stuart there has become the rally point for the marines. It is now a bunker.
In the Northern VHes, a SNLF squad is wiped out.
In the middle, a Type 92 HMG and another SNLF squad is destroyed. The Stuarts there are re-forming the line. Your troops will never get over that little bump of a hill. A Stuart supported by infantry has held that hill since the beginning of the battle
You know which one I'm talking about
To the South, a Cavalry squad is destroyed. Another is spotted and pushed back.
75mms arrive just in time, smashing directly in front of the Stuarts in the middle. Yee Haaaa!

Ok, have it your way. Two Stuarts dead in the centre, infantry on the hill is beaten back. So are the raiders in the north.
South is getting a bit of a mess, with the smoke and flames and all. All them satchel charges don't help either.
Got some arty back on line, let's see if that helps.

Stuarts in the middle are contained for the moment, infantry on the hill is beaten up some more. The fight in the north seems to stall, with neither side giving up much.
Still advancing towards the southern VHs, but have to deal with the counterattack on the flank.

The North VHes are holding. Stuarts are still helping the infantry push back the tide of Japanese infantry.
To the far North, my tired Raiders who have held the lines for so long begin to fall back. They can do nothing more. They have distracted the Japanese infantry long enough.
To the middle, an SNLF squad is destroyed. The Stuarts who are quickly running out of ammunition (first HE rounds, now MG) fight back, pushing a few squads of Japanese left and right. Another Stuart joins the fray but is immediately immobilized by hidden Japanese. The Stuart sprays that squad with MG fire. An infantry squad nearby rushes to help the Stuart and joins in the fray, forcing back the enemy.
To the South, lines remain the same, a cavalry squad is destroyed by my fresh southern Stuart forces.
This one is gonna be very close.

A lot of infantry action this turn. Up Far North, Japanese infantry who are pursuing my withdrawing Raiders are punished and are dealt some casualties, forcing them back.
The Northern VHes are still holding...... Really fragile there...
In the middle, a few Stuarts retreat, leaving some of their immobilized friends behind. An SNLF HQ and an Infantry A squad is killed this turn by an immobilized Stuart and some Para squads.
Down south, the hunt for the Jap flame tank is over. A Stuart is burning in the process. The flame tank however is dead... After around 6 37mm shots to the front (no results) and to the side.
The marines are still holding fast. But they must consolidate in the middle, withdraw to the south and somehow hold the North... line is really thin (and breached in some places.)

More infantry fighting, with heavy casualties on each side. Japanese are slowly gaining the upper hand...
In the middle one of the few Stuarts still moving does so no more, while in the south another is badly damaged, it's crew fleeing the inferno caused by another you-know-what.
Looks like some more hunting is in order

The battle continues. 2 SNLF squads are destroyed around the Northern VHes. An SNLF HQ is destroyed somewhere in the middle.
Tank forces in the middle are withdrawing to easier-to-defend phase lines.
To the south, another SNLF HQ is decimated (but not destroyed.) Any other infantry squad would disperse but not the Japanese...
The flame tank down there has been discovered. A brave Stuart takes a shot and hits, but fails to do any significant damage. The returning flame salvo forces the Stuart to withdraw.
The whole USMC line is moving back against the relentless and inumerable horde.
Say byebye to your mortars next turn :p

Stuarts are still defending the central hill, but elsewhere the US marines are getting slaughtered. In the north one of two remaining Stuarts dies by a lucky mortar hit.

The North is in dire straits, only the timely appearance of artillery MIGHT save the cut off forces there now. For now they are holding however. A few squads are beaten back by .30 cals and infantry.
The middle is still secure. Another Inf-B squad and an SNLF squad is destroyed near the stranded Stuarts.
Ths south is also in dire straits... A japanese squad is forced back but the other troops are trying to implement an orderly withdrawal.
A bunch of 75mm shells fall on that mortar team in the middle. Hope they like them. :p
If this game ends suddenly post your password k?? I love this battle hehehe

It's not over yet
South is almost secure, only a few fleeing yankees and a lonely Stuart left. The other one got torched.
The situation in the north is similar, minus a Stuart.
In the middle some infantry is destroyed, despite their cowering behind a tank. More mortar shells should help clear out the rest.
Yep, cool fight. If it weren't for those points per turn VHs I coould win this one too :p

The North has finally fallen, and the Japanese are running amok amongst the VHes. Some good news however is that the Raiders from far North who are already heroes, have reached the Northern VHes and are preparing an assault.
In the middle, a few squads are machine-gunned and forced back. A mortar team is also getting decimated.
Down south a cavalry squad who has insolently charged up to a VHex is massacred by a Stuart. Another squad is pinned down as the Stuart fires its last HE rounds at it.
75mms hit the Northern VHes...knowing that it is lost, I might as well smash it to bits
Artillery also pounds down South to slow the advancing horde.
Yup, you could STILL very well win this one, about a 75% chance I think
With infantry like the Japanese... no wonder they have such crappy tanks (no offense to those wonderful flame tanks though)

The north is mine alright, destroyed the last remaining tank, dispose of some leftover infantry bits, now setting up a welcome party for your raiders.
The last defender of the southern VHs is immobilised, (mostly)troops moving in to finish him off.
Meanwhile, the company commander in the centre has given up his hopes for some shiny new tanks and has ordered his men to bypass them and take that hill. Troops are converging fom all diretions, while heavy mortar fire preps the area.
Japanese infantry rocks!
If only they'd retreat just a bit sooner and had the ability to fire the squad 50mm indirectly:rolleyes: Some satchel charges like those marines have would be nice too...
