Stupid newbie question

Post by Raen »

Ok, I feel like an idiot asking this and I'll no doubt kick myself when I get the answer, but I've searched and searched and haven't found it:

What is the significance of the little square that will sometimes appear in a hex, most commonly over the port (anchor) symbol?

If this question is answered in the manual, I would appreciate a page or section number where it's addressed, as I have hunted in vain.

Also, is there a FAQ somewhere or a commonly asked questions post?

And finally, is this the place to ask questions such as this or would Tech Support be more appropriate.

Thanks!

Do you mean the a square or an exclamation mark?

The square symbolizes ground units present.

No such thing as a stupid question with a game this complex.

It signifies that there is a defensive minefield in that port/hex.

Thanks for the reply.

No, I know the square with the X through it is ground forces. I'm talking about a very small square with a dot in the center. At Pearl, it appears superimposed on the bottom left part of the anchor, in Tokyo it appears above and to the right of the anchor. Some anchors (ports) don't have it, some do, and I just can't figure out what it's supposed to signify.

I agree, there are no stupid questions.

And you can ask general questions in the main AE forum area, or here. Although the War Room is more for what I like to think of as more specific questions about tactics, strategy etc, it is really a bit fluid.
