Hi I just got this game for Christmas can you guys tell me a good starter scenario to learn how to play the game? I got this game because of the Vietnam scenario's Boonierat has made but before I jump into those I need to learn the basics. [:)]

I would say Tutorial scenario, Korea 1950. Play as Communists vs. Po.

I second (third?) the previous posters that you start off with the tutorial and then move on to small scenarios which are playable vs the PO, in order to get into the controls and mechanics of play.

PS, make sure to update TOAWIII to the latest version which is 3.2.29.27, the single cumulative patch can be found in the members area and is the only one you ned to install

The Vietnam scnearios are a great set of scenarios to play.

I'm going to do something heretical and say don't try to memorize the entire manual. I made that mistake the first time I played and almost burnt myself out with all the rules, symbols, etc. Don't worry too much about the exact rules that the game takes care of, what multiplier for which terrain types against which attacks, the rules for reconstitution, etc., that's a great way to go crazy when you're starting out. Try first using logical play tactics and see what happens and learn the exact rules about the side stuff as you need it.

The manual has a run-through of the Korea scenario, and all of the tutorials also have documentation, so they're a great place to start.

My personal favorite at the moment is Arracourt, it's a very small scenario which means that I can try things out and see what works very easily, and figure out the tactical side without needing to worry too much about how the mistakes I make affect the game in the long run.

I love the Korea scenario it was my first PBEM on TOAW III and my first computer wargame that wasnt so riddled with bugs it was too much like hard work to play think it was called Norm Kogers Conflict Korea on the Amiga 600 anyway enjoy and happy holidays Ian
