There's no serial in my retail copy (box+cd+manual)

Post by phenixfulcrum »

Hi,

Excuse me for my bad english becaus i'm french. My wife offered to me for Christmas a retail copy of Crown of GLory Emperor's Edition but i have some problems to find the serial number [:D]

I explained my problem in the COGEE sub-forum and Gil R. (moderor) gave me the advice to post a thread in the general discussion aera, because it seems to be a problem that concerns Matrix/Digital River :
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2329190&mpage=1&key=

My box version was bought at the french Store4War website (www.store4war.com).

On the first CD (of three), i can find

a CD Number of 20 numeric characters : XXXXXXXXXX0000000009

and an Order ID which repeats the 10 first characters of the CD Number : XXXXXXXXXX

I tried to enter these 2 codes but the set up doesn't recognize them. What is curious is that these CD Number and Order ID printed on the first CD don't look like general Matrix Games serial numbers which are generally like that : XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

I didn't find other code on the two others discs, or in the DVD box or in the paper manual.

Perhaps can i scan the first CD cover and my bill (from Store4War shop) and send them to matrix commercial office ?

Thank you for your help... it's hard to wait for before playing this great game !
Best regards, Phenix.

When I have bought a store version in the past, the serial number was on a sticker on the paper cd holder. When I order the digital download version, I get a confirmation email with the CD key inside the email from DR.

I've never bought just a physical version...did you not get a key by email? Whenever I have bought (like I said always digital and physical or just digital) I've always been given a key by email?

Can you not use your order number and email or last 6 digits of your credit card in www.findmyorder.com to look up your order? I would've thought it would say there?

Thats a bummer. On my physical CD I have a Serial No. Printed on teh CD directly above the CD Number barcode (above and slightly to the left actually.

Good luck!

What does store4war have to say about the serial?

Surely they supply a serial if they are legit....

i will send them a email. Store4War is the main french strategic website. They seems to be serious. A long time ago, i wrote reviews and games analysis for their paper magazine PC4WAR.

Perhaps when they order physical games from Matrix, they receive a listing of serial numbers for each dvd box delivered ?

Sorry to hear about this.

Even with the store4war versions the serial number should be printed on the CD itself in the xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx format you described above.
Like Andrew said, please do contact your reseller first.

Interesting. I ordered 'Field of Glory' from the Matrix site by digital download and physical copy. The game downloaded fine and I did receive a standard Matrix type serial number by email. However, I received the CD today and it does not have the serial number on the CD. Just like with phenixfulcrum's disk, the CD has a CD number and an Order ID, neither of which is the serial number. I also noticed that the game box has "DX edition" on the label. I've ordered many games from Matrix and this is the first CD that didn't have the serial number printed on it. Glad I got the email with a serial number.

Although I only ordered a physical copy, I reported the same issue w/my Kharkov purchase; fortunately the accurate serial number was found w/the product tracking info.

Perhaps not so strange as several gamers who ordered different titles are missing SNs from their disks even though these missing numbers were assigned and later successfully entered during the software install prompt.

I'm guessing it was just a holiday glitch as I don't want to go looking for CD serial numbers anytime soon, esp. when BftB is (hopefully) released next month.

Thanks Matrix! They just emailed the serial numberes of my 3 most recent purchases. Two of them I didn't even know I was missing. That will save me from a few future headaches!
Thank you.

Yup, me too. Didn't even know there was no serial number on the cd printed [:)]
And you're right about future headaches.... it's installed nicely on my pc now and they all work fine, but you know how it goes, you will get that new pc eventually and *then* you have to install everything again ---> hm, now where is that serial number again?? [&:]
