I am just stating fact sofware developed in one country encrytped in another and sold as an another transported through electronic means, specific software and not company wide software under the same genre......all i am saying it is just an interesting statement of facts.

Can you post the document where these facts come from?

Thanks!

Gary, I think you may be on to something?

International Traffic in Arms Regulations

Purpose and definition: http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/regulations_laws/documents/official_itar/ITAR_Part_120.pdf

Maybe Barker needs to go to the ITGR website. The International Traffic in Games Regulations clearly spell out he does not know what he is talking about?

Maybe General Dynamics has the wrong links on it's website?
Unless Jason is using CS as a way to take over the world ... buuuhaaahaaahaaa. [X(]

Jason, ITAR does cover it, if, you were developing software for a military application. Unless CS is meant to load in an A-10 or become part of a missle tracking system I think you are safe.
Then again ITAR does cover extreme assault, you may have to change that in a future upgrade. [;)]

Now that's funny [:D]

I think you'll only have to change it for USA, Canadians can still have the option. Or something...

ITAR covers any software , intellectual property, executable code that could be or can be modified in another country. Read up on ITAR all regs....amazing what it all encompasses......a company could lose its priveledge to selling over seas if they knowingly violated any of those regs and it was pressed. ITAR includes a vast number of items. It even includes technical knowledge through email if not previously approved through import / export.

Dude, get a life.

GIve it up, Barker. Jason is not going to give you the source code for The Campaign series.
And as for the weapon and unit files, considering how altering them can easily give somebody a grossly unfair advantage in a on line game, I think that "Hard Coding" them (if that is the right word) is a very good idea.
And that Some law was broken in the making of the game is just plain silly.

Jason, I know you must be enjoying this exchange with Barker enormously, but something you said earlier...

The engine needs a serious overhaul, much of which cannot be glossed over with modded platoon and weapon files.

Is that overhaul possible, intended, and what would be considered for it ?

Hi Paul.

Yes, it is both possible and intended... in time.

One major item with high priority is to improve HAL's ability as an opponent. Especially to be able to utilize many of the new features that have been and are being included, but also making HAL a better tactician overall.

Sounds intriguing, Jason. The big advantage is that we are all very aware of whats missing and what can be improved, because we've known the game for so long. I can think of several things I'd like to see, but obviously thats way down the line.

As for improving HAL, well the AI is not so much concern to me at the moment. I'm in a PBEM series of games with an old friend with whom I used to wargame with miniatures over 30 years ago! Terrific fun it is too.

Well that's great news then. I played the original EF (I and II) and WF many years ago, enjoyed it tremendously. Bought the complete Campaign cd some weeks ago, and while it *still* is a nice game.... it does feel somewhat, well the same really as more than a decade ago [:D]
So yes I am glad to hear improvements are planned. In due time ofcourse. Have you any idea as to how long that will take? 2011?

Yeah I know, I'm sorry Jason. Dev's burden I guess, the moment they mention a new upgrade/patch/game, us gamers want an estimated time of release [:D] read; want it finished yesterday [;)]

... hm, talking about Modern Wars, is there any foreseeable AAR in the pipeline? There are some screenshots, but nothing gives us outsiders a better idea of the game than a (short) AAR.

Yeah, me too.

EFII was a major, major love of my life then. [:'(] It would be terrific to have it improved!
