Exclamation Points?

Post by Riva Ridge »

All,

Need an assist. New thing in AE vs WITP is the presence of yellow and red exlamation points (!) in some hexes. I have searched the manual several times trying to find out what they mean (probably something to do with supply) but I can not find an explanation. I am sure it is in there somewhere and I am just overlooking it. An assist please?

It means you're low (or REALLY low) on supplies.

Yellow - the base is below 2x needed supply level, but above the minimum supply needed.

Red - the base is below the minimum supply level needed
                                   OR
the base had a partisan attack due to low garrison

Hope this helps

BTW - this information is NOT found in the manual; look in Documentation - Interface Addendum for Patch 2.

Thanks.  My cue to go read through the patch notes to see if there are any other gems hidden in them. [:)]

Riva,

Just to save you a potential headache, check out the following thread with regard to the Japanese supply system. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2331493
Specifically, Andy Mac has a good synopsis in this thread and BigJ goes out of his way to clarify what is going on with the supply system. It probably should get a "sticky" someday.

Basically, don't use the 'supplies required' button as a reaction to this(especially early in the game). Give your bases a few turns to "stabilize". The game will, should, get enough supplies to your bases to keep them supplied. Believe me, I learned this the hard way. I think the Japanese can get themselves into more trouble with this feature than the Allies can but it still had some unexpected consequences. There are some other threads out there that have even more information.

Also, set up your auto-convoy or send out manual supply convoys to bases that are low on supply (some folks don't like the auto convoy system but it does alleviate a lot of micromanagement).

But, like I said before, give the game a few turns to stabilize the situation.
