Patrol and refueling at port

Post by Oddball_France »

I'd like to make some ASW TFs patrol around a port (it seems people use "Patrol" only for subs, why ?), without worrying about refueling, nor having to give the same order every 3 turns (the ASW include some short legged ships).

That for, I have selected the port as one of the 3 boundaries, with "Full Refuel" ON (and 1 day linger just in case).

But, as in the game it is said the TF will refuel with met Replenishment TF, i doubt it will work as I want.

Can anyone tell me more ? Will the TF refuel every time it will arrive at the port ? Or not ?
If yes, will the TF pursue his mission until I tell him to stop, or will it stop at a moment ?

It should work. The TF should refuel from any avaiable fuel source. You do not need to specify a linger time. In fact, you do not need to have one of the patrol boundaries set to the port - TFs should auto leave/return to patrol zone when fuel is needed.

I do set the port for the third leg, but that is just for preference. I dont have the TF's linger and they do refuel. Two things to watch for, low fuel in the port and sys damage to ships in the TF.

I've had ASW TF's patrolling outside of Puget Sound run completely out of fuel before they returned to refuel.  Since then I've adjusted my patrol areas so the 3rd leg ends up at a port they can refuel/rearm at.
