Realism, historical, and weapon R&D/Production

I always try to be careful when it comes to 'bashing' any historical figure. It seems like there are waves of interpretations that happen. An example of such is the American Civil War.

Sometimes General Lee is seen as brilliant, other times he is seen as barely competent (relying too much on his subordinates, and when they were dead failing at the battlefield). However, in a few years he is back upon the podeum. Just like MacArthur, waves of protest on his actions are covered by inundations of his good qualities. It seems like we can only look upon historical figures as non-humans, subject to both good and bad acts. This occurs with our enemies. Historically, Albert Speer is seen as 'the good guy' in Nazi Germany, but recently his reputation is being tarnished. The truth is probably he was better then most Nazi party members, but not as innocent as he makes himself out to be.

Same with Halsey. Was he as good or as bad as some claim? It is hard to tell. He obviously was not incompetent, or else he would have been sacked, but he was not brilliant enough to come out of the war with a virtually unscathed reputation like Nimitz. If you read a Halsey biography, you will probably see his history much kinder, but one written on Nimitz will just show the bad points of Halsey. The truth is probably somewhere inbetween. He was a good commander, but subject to faults of assumptions and gloryhogging (wanted to kill the IJN carrier force).

My post was soley about Leyte Gulf.
Halsey like Lee was willing to engage the enemy.
Surely preferable to Little Mac.(MacLellen)

You cant win if you wont fight. Still, even Little Mac had some
good points. The person directing the war has to put the right
men in the right job.

Just have a realistic huge lag on the r&d production. Especially R&D. How long did the americans' know that the sherman was outgunned. I think the replacement arrived what like 8 weeks before the war ended in europe? Even changes in the volume of production would take 4 to six months.

So great you lost all your XXXX's and YYYYY's fine you tell chain they tell procurement the war bonds are issued and GM expands the factory and gets the tools and now 154 days have passed and the first XXXX or YyYY rolls off the line.

Except by now you wish you'd order more ZZZZZ because Rabual just fell and you don't have the foggiest idea what to do with so many XXXXX's....

You know what, any further discussion on R&D and Production being excluded or included is pointless.

Everything has been discussed to death.

Nothing will get solved.

Let us stop talking about this, as it is not going to solve anything. We must wait for Matrix to state what it will do on the topics, as ranting back and forth proves nothing.

Talk about other features, not so drastic as R&D and Production, that you want to see in the game.

Talk about it nicely as well, I can tell you one thing, that as a member of the PacWar patch when discussion got rude and/or hostile I was substantially less likely to bother listening to either side in a debate.

All the points have been said for and against R&D and Produciton. Stating exact systems will not sway anyone's conviction now or in the future. So lets stop wasting time on it.

I have to add "amen" to that (at the risk of encouraging personal insults from a certain quarter, but I am prepared to ignore those). I hereby leave these decisions to the wise determinations of Matrix/2by3. Their judgment will be far wiser than most any of the ramblings I have read in 200-odd posts on these two threads.
