house rules for invasion TF's

Post by AirGriff »

I don't know where the thread went regarding the large invasion of PH that didn't seem to suffer much damage, but I was wondering if a house rule limiting the size of invasion TF's might help the issue. From what I could gather, it seemed the game had trouble handling the huge size of the TF and consequently the invaders suffered minimal casualties, both in ships and lcu's. If it was required that such a huge force be broken into multiple smaller TF's of something like 20 ships apiece, might this help get more appropriate results, yes, no, maybe so?

I haven't seen or heard of too many HRs.

Please remember that the invasion PH thread was just that-one example. One example does not a trend, tendency or bias make. Several AARs on this forum (and several counter posts within the PH thread) have indicated that CD target selection during amphibious assault works just fine, thank you.

Ah, then perhaps I'm letting my bad dreams get to me. I suppose I should think more about what I'm going to do to THEM!

I've done a lot of invasions in my current game.

I started out as you stated, with seperate TF's for each major combat unit.
Then, as time went on, it became a hassle to watch over multiple TF's.
Especially with all the other operations going on.[;)]

Now I average two Amph TF's per invasion.
One with the major combatants, up to 99 ships.
One with support troops, around 60-80 ships.

Easier to monitor the situation, and to keep track of the true amphibious ships.
