resource movement ques

Post by jackyo123 »

ques - ive got about 200k of resources in nagoya, osaka, and other japanese ports. I have a shortage of 97,000 in Tokyo of resources.

Do the resources move overland to Tokyo? or must i haul them?

if they do move overland - why the reported shortage?

Similar ques for fuel - i've got 2.3m fuel in Tokyo - but almost none in some of the smaller ports on honshu. if a ship puts into port at one of these, will fuel move overland to the port so the ship can refuel?

Thought they were supposed to go automaticlaly on the rail network (black line) to areas that needed them most.... could be wrong though...

Regarding refined fuel,  don't think that does automatically move between ports/bases (supplies can sometimes move overland by themselves).  Once the fuel at the port/base is gone,  you need to refill it with a tanker or oiler...

What is your overall level of resources? Where are you in your game? Remember that Honshu is in deficit to the tune of about 3,000,000 resources a month. If you haven't kept pace, your bases will start to canabalize available stores to meet immediate production demand instead of transshipping to Tokyo or Osaka.

Surplus resources should move overland by rail to Tokyo. Depending on where you are in your game, though, your overall available resources may be low. If you're 'just getting by' in other cities re: resource demand, not much surplus will be shipped by railroad to Tokyo.

Also, RR transport of resources does not happen every turn, so you may want to work on building your interim Tokyo buffer by direct transport.

IIRC, fuel will flow to a port (assuming there's excess available) to meet its base 'requested fuel' levels. Again, it doesn't move every turn, but it should move surplus by rail.

Region_mappings is a folder - open it and you should find 3 or more region files.
