Editor Ships sunk or lost dates

Editor Ships sunk or lost dates

I have come across many active ships in the Pacific that were subsequently sunk or lost. Should this date be inserted in the ship data and what effect does it have in the game?

If the scenario starts at a date after that listed for the 'sunk' date, the ship will not be included in the scenario.
