Nah, things aren't so bad. I'm generally left alone to do things my way, although she's now bringing in another minion. Once said minion is up to speed, I'm supposed to get more assignments.

Allow me to translate that for you:
When said minion is up to speed, you will get more assignments just before said minion is promoted/transferred to another department - you will keep additional assignments; if said minion does not get up to speed, you will get more assignments and will take up slack said minion creates in permanent lack of productivity.
I hope this clears things up in time for your weekend.
