obvious blunder

Post by freeboy »

ok, I am doing some things very well, BUT this is not one of them, and it is so obvious I thought I would post for others to avoid my OOPSI moment...

I had moved large amounts of troops against my pbem oponent easily overwhelming his forces in Lunga, scen 2 late 42. I then did not immediately remove from the front all my high value fast AP's then really are no better sitting around waiting for the enemy while the fleet unloads supplies than any cheap xak, so What happened, ouch, my oponent sent several high value AP's large fast and dead, to the borrum.
What I should have done is immediately pull them and use them in the more protected areas wher cv and asw and land based air easily cover them and they can use those long legs and quickly move troops from staging bases to the near the front asault grouping bases, IE from Suva rear, to Ndenni, frontal area... etc..
I think this is so obvious, but as an experienced player I just spaced, so I thought others may be at risk and if this is you, be warned, and if not, no worries.....

As long as the air.sea threat isnt high, i've been splitting off any unloaded transports and sending them home early.

Some of the obvious ideas only become obvious when Yamato & Musashi turn up.

I actually would trade a few ap's for the cahance to pummel those guys, my error was in leaving these guys, or even using them, as I get closer to RB.. for instance Munda is free for the taking and Shortland is close, I will probably not use the AP's due to the possible presence of bombers...I have seen NO Betties in the Solomons!!!
The absence of these actually scares the heck out of me.... I keep looking over my proverbial shoulder
