Submarines

Any use for these things? They seem to die in droves (even when on raiders). They seem to be found way to easy.

They do die, but they are are cheap and quick to build, and in numbers they can do damage.  This was probably the reason the Soviet Union built such a large submarine force during the Cold War.

For Germany they are even more effective because of an event.  Subs in the North Atlantic convoy zones can cause PP losses for Great Britain.

30PP is cheap? considering they probably can do maybe 5PP damage at most before they die, i hardly think they are balanced.

ok, done some more experimenting and if i send in lone raiders (1 submarine group) per zone they seem to be found normally (approx 50%). However if i try to send a stack (eg. 4). they all get found extremely easily. The manual claims 1% more likely per extra group but this doesn't seem to pan out in tests.
