New Campaign-AAR

Post by BryanMelvin »

The Raider's at the Spwaw Arsenal have a new campaign for you all coming real soon this month by Federico “Resisti” Doveri.

Time: 12 of January 1943
Location: Along the Neva River Near Gorodok, USSR

Lt. Winacker, B Company, 240th Btg, 170 German Inf. Div. Reporting:

It was a cold day. Temperatures were well below zero. Leningrad lay to the North. Along the Neva River we were dug in trying to stay warm. Suddenly, the alarm has sounded! Ivan is attacking! Our forward Field hospital lay in the Russian village of Gorodok, which was located on the only road net through the thick Forrest and the obvious objective of the Russian assualt. Can we hold?

Russian artillery crashes all along our thinly manned lines. The village of Gorodok takes a pounding. Onward the Russian masses advance across the frozen Neva River. Will we have enough bullets to stop this mass of screaming fury? Our reserve Company of Pioneers holds the center of the line while regular infantry man the left and right flanks.

Our ammo is low. We must make every shot count so we can protect our comrades that lay helpless in the hospital to our rear. Some many fight for some stupid ideological cause but we learned that causes have no meaning here. The only thing that matters is ourselves as that is all we have to rely on in mother Russia. We fire our weapons. Barrels grow red from constant firing. The Russian dead-pile high up upon one another like stacks of cordwood before us but still more come! Can we hold? Can we hold? Can we…?

More AAR to come ;)

AAR - Continues - Battle One

Can we hold? can we??

My company takes the center of the line along the frozen Neva River midst bursting shells. We hold but in vain. The Russian's keep coming. My northern Company folds under the pressure and soon we are forced out of lines. We must delay. We must hold Gorodok as it controls the trails leading south to Sinjawino heights. Should Sinjawino fall, our main supply line, the Kirow railway, will be in peril, and you realize what this means? Hold Gorodok at all cost! We cannot fail!

I order my southern Company to retire so it will not be cut off but its 81 mm Mortar section is caught by Ivan and Long range HMG fire mow down the hapless crews as the struggle in the deep snow. The men retire but take heavy loses. Bullets sap at the snow around our feet. Artillery pound and dog our footsteps!

Will the two companies manage to make it to Gorodok while my Pioneers hold the center long enough for them to reach Gorodoks defenses? Can we hold?? Can we hold ? Can We...???

AAR - Continues - Battle One

Both infantry Companies on my flanks slowly converge on Gorodok. A platoon of infantry is cut off and forced to dig in to survive. It draws the full ire of the Soviet advance! Their gallant stand affords the rest of the company to make it to safety. Now it is time for the Pioneer company to withdraw under intense fire. As they withdraw, Lt. Klaus’s platoon rescues the cut off platoon and stops the Russian masses attacking from the North. To the south, retreating forces are shot at by long range HMG fire. Ivan’s attack appears to have stalled. Our forces collect in the area around Gorodok and wait. The Cold is intense. We here the Russians singing! This only means they are masking their movements to strike us again. Thus the first day of battle nears its end and soon another will begin.

Campaign

Post by BryanMelvin »

The New Post will be up soon - within the next 24 hours.

Sorry about the delay but Computers and Internet do have a few temper tamprums

Please note the New Mini-campaign - You'll love it! Many of you mentioned in another post that campaigns seem too long to complete - not this one. It is a Mini-campaign comprising 3 battles.

Stay Tuned for this Nail Bitting Campaign By Raider Resisti -

A HOSPITAL ON THE FRONT LINE

This excellent campaign is based on the battles, which took place in January 1943 around one of the key points of German line along the Neva River near Leningrad. The town of Gorodok and its hospital. The fighting around Gorodok is the focus of this campaign and depicts Lt. Winacker’s B Company, 240th Btn, 170 ID valiant stand there.

On 12 of January 1943, Soviets launched an offensive to cut the German bottleneck blocking Leningrad from the south. After a tremendous artillery barrage, two Russian Armies attacked. The 2nd Assault Army from the east with 7 Infantry Divisions and 1 armored Brigade along a front 13 kilometers wide, while from the west the 67th Army with 5 Infantry divisions and 1 Armored Brigade focused its efforts on the sector between towns of Marino and Gorodok.

You will take the role of Lt. Winacker.

It is now January 12, 1943 and HQ has a report for you...

"Tenent Winaker, our scouts have discovered signs of the Russians having been on our side of the river tonight and tried to clear paths in our minefields.

This can mean only one thing: they will cross the river and they will do it today! Therefore, Tenent, take your company and deploy it along the river, so to fill the gap between the adjacent units.

Our defensive line is stretched at the limit and there are no reserves available at the moment. Should you abandon the high riverbank, there will be no way for us to take it back: retreat is not an option!

Our strength is lying in our improved and concealed positions: don't give them away too early. Hold you breath and aim well, wait as much as you can to open fire......."

I'll continue Battle two's AAR after the release of The Raider's Arsenal September Post as I do not want to give to much
