The new Battlestar Galactica series music is excellent to use for background.  The Battle of New Caprica (where Pegasus is destroyed) is over 8 minutes long and really fires me up as a I watch a fight!

EDIT: WOW--my 4,000th Post...

My wife and I are adopting a 3.5 yr old girl so the music for AE in my future is likely to be something sung by a purple dinosaur named Barney.....

Im with you B........you can add the Doors (Riders on the Storm or The End) and there's always a little Led for the head!!!

The Moody Blues works too.

If you have XM or Sirius the 40's channel can't be beat for the historical feel.

I like the idea of having these music selections indicated here in the thread. How to I include them into the game so as to replace the original tracks (old and computer slow mind)?

Somebody will tell you how to do it in the game, but with an old & slow computer, my suggestion is to use a music player (iPod or other MP3 player).

It is I that am old and slow when it comes to computers.

Either way, Buck! If your computer is fast enough then just use Windows Media Player but still forget about having the game play the music - an unnecessary complication.

With my children, I have to admit right now I have "Bob the Builoder" in the background...

Think I will give it a try.

I usually listen to diverse music - using my mp3 player software running in the background. From classics to rock, jazz to ambient, whatever. But...

over at the subsim forum, in the Silent Hunter 4 mod section, you'll be able to find a thread where an enthusiast created a really huge sound mod for that brilliant game. It consists of mp3s organized in folders (event folders in the game's event organization structure). Mainly consists of AFRS radio programmes, KGMB Honolulu, loads of others, with news and music and other stuff. Here's the link to the thread with exhaustive explanations and download links to the compilation:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119668

Gives both games depth to hear the actual radio programs aired during WW2. :)

You might be able to find more of this stuff directly on the internet archive - for example http://www.archive.org/details/MailCall
