This turn-based grand strategy title, the highly improved and expanded sequel to WW2: Road to Victory, puts the player in charge of the political, economic and military decisions of one or more Axis or Allied nations, including minor nations.

Playing as The USA?

Post by Marshall Thomas »

What's it like playing as The United States? Has anyone played a full campaign as them?
Are they a good nation to play as for a beginner, trying to fully understand game mechanics? Thanks in advance

The US is an interesting country to play once they enter the war.

In a '39 scenario that will take a while and you will have many short turns to go through while other nations are already going at it. If you want immediate action and this is your first game ever you may want to chose a different country or scenario.

The US has most often the challenge to enter mainland Europe via an amphibious landing which makes it maybe a bit more tricky than other nations that are more relying on land warfare.

If you like the US, my recommendation is to play the Western Allies plus the US (who will enter the alliance most likely soon or later). But if you are in a PBEM and the other nations are taken, you are in a great "look and wait" position with the US.

Or you play a later scenario of course - which I cannot say much about as a devoted fan of '39.
