3.1 British a/c too strong?

Post by Nomad »

In playing Japan in PBEM games, I find that the Britsh A/C in the CBI seem to be too strong. As Japan, I can never seem to fight to anything like a draw( which is what I would expect). The Japanesse aircraft are simply shredded, they are not enough Ki-43s produce to replace loses, plus experiece drops to 40 - 50 after just one or two large air battles. In one battle, in Feb 1942, I lost 72 Japanesse fighters while downing 15 Allied Fighters and Bombers. Just doesn't seem right for this time frame.

I don't think the british air groups are too strong.

I think that the japanese are stretched to thin to oppose the british. There are just not enough jap air groups to go around. Also, no japanese aircraft in 3.1 can not stand up for very long against f4fs, huricanes, or the p40s of the AVG.

And un-opposed the british gain experience very quickly and then are not opposable at all.

I'm playing a game as the Allies against the AI, and my British air squadrons are not doing nearly as well. It looks to me as if you need to use the land-based A6M2's, and save the Ki-43's for areas of minimal opposition (like the NEIAF). Also, remember that there's more than one way to destroy aircraft. Bombarding the British airfields with your BB's will cut their squadrons down to size nicely.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

The main 'problem' that the RAF faces in the 3.1 patch is numbers. They usually get around 500 Hurricane II's, from 1941 to 1944 (including those that start with the groups). So, if they should experience losses, they will be much harder to bring up to full numbers. However, since they recieve less aircraft their groups will gain experience faster (as they won't lose exp due to replacements). If you can get a high attrition rate with the RAF they won't be too powerful. Just as a note for Allied players as well, you cannot sacrifice the RAF in costly attacks, or else you will soon run out of fighters!
