Production Planner and Aircraft Database

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Production Planner and Aircraft Database

Post by vimconfused »

I haven't been playing the game for very long but felt I couldn't move forward without access to a lot of the information that doesn't seem immediately to hand. I've therefore compiled it all into a spreadsheet(with thanks to Hard Sarge for answering my endless questions).... but how do I upload it? I've seen other posts with spreadsheet attachments but can't work out how its done!

Edit: I will upload it to a file sharing site soon, but I would still be interested how you post non-image files here.

In the scenarios and modding forum you are allowed to attach zip files.

Aha, I wondered why some people had managed to. Anyway, I've put it on one of the standard file hosters (link at end).

The first part of the spreadsheet has similarities to the production planner produced by Tuk. Tuk's one is very good but I wanted a sort of cut down version with fewer variables, even if I had to compromise on detail. As a newbie I might of course have completely missed the point! This is also very much draft 1 and am very happy to incorporate suggestions into future versions (and hear if any of the basic data is wrong!)

The main compromise in this worksheet is that is is "driven" only by the factor of assembly (not engines or parts), mainly because this is the one unique component that determines aircraft type. It then does a simple calculation for requirements of the other two components. The calculation is dependent on the figures you use for assemblies, so you decide how "accurate" you want to be. You may want to reflect changes on a daily basis, perhaps to include bomb damage etc, or perhaps not worry if a new production line is ten days away. This means you will not have the same totals as the games "show requirements" screen (which in any case seems to calculate on a different basis).

Hopefully later versions will be clever with delays and have some kind of automated feature based on excel formulas. Unfortunately I'm not an excel expert but given enough time I could probably work out some sort of formula here based on the game date and days delay for production lines. I did initially have formulas for entering parts and engines based on the number of assemblies entered, but excel doesn't do a good job of sorting cells with formulas. You'll therefore have to put all the numbers in yourself (and particularly remember the ones with multiple engines!)

I could have used formulas if the worksheet was not going to be sorted, but I think sorting allows for the best functionality. Basically you can sort the production information any way you choose. I have included suggestions that I use (available aircraft on top, research in a separate section and assemblies no longer produced but still in service in another).

There is also an aircraft database, based on the lists seen in the forum (I have used the one provided by Hard Sarge - many thanks). I've included a couple of columns for research, but this is very much a work in progress until I think of a way (and moreover have time) to do it.

I have decided to upload the new version of the spreadsheet to an existing thread within the "Scenarios and Modding" section that allows for zip files. I've also added a timeline for the whole long German campaign.

That timeline is nice - thank you!
