Pbem Game Armor wars

Post by Fallschirmjager »

You may find this idea dumb and if you do thats ok......

But here goes....

Ive noticed alot of ppl on this board argue over which tank is the best......well now you can prove it....

This will go along kind of with the World cup idea except it will be alot simpler.

The idea is that some aspiring map maker makes us up a map (approved by me since Ill be moderating this venture)

Each player (even number of players required) picks their tanks of choice.
A group of us will make a table that balences each tank.
For example if Jess were to pick M4's he would get 6 (these numbers are just examples) while Goblin would get 2 Tigers.
If I picked T-34's I would get 3 while gmenfan go 3 PZ IV H's

Thats pretty much my idea.
Im going to attempt to judge/moderate/take e-mails for this venture and I also want to play in it as well.

Umm now with rules.

1. 1 vs 1 matches single emlimination random seedings.
2. Each player selects one tank to take with them the entire tournement. ONLY 1 PERSON IS ALLOWED EACH KIND OF TANK
That means if I were to take the Tiger only I get the Tiger (varations of a single tank are allowed as long as they variation is significant all decision go by me on this issue)
3 . ONLY tanks No vehicles, ATG's, infantry scouts mines or anything of that nature.
4. Only years 1942-1945 allowed
5. All Tanks at 70 exp
6. Try to keep "camping" at a min go hunting dont hole up on a hill or street corner go seek your opponent and slaughter them.
7. Have fun
8. DAR's are reccmended
9. Rename your tanks and give them crews to use in your Dar stories this will alot of fun when if comes time to mock your opponent.

If you have any ideas ( im sure you will this idea is still rough please feel free to post it)

If you want in send me an e-mail to fallschirmjager@earthlink.net
This is NOT tank selection if your e-mail says I want such and such tank Ill ignore your request
Right now im getting interest and getting this idea smoothed over.

Thats it.
If you have any q's or ideas Id like to hear them.
I think this idea would be alot of fun.

Hi, I don't pretend to be a particularily good practitioner of armoured warfare, but I'd be honoured to represent one of the candidates for WWII tank supremacy. It's an interesting concept :D

The use of Panther uhu's may very easily make this tournament very unfair to some players. What do you think ?

Are tank destroyers and assault guns also accepted ?

Anyway, I'm in :)

Hey FJ,

Have you gotten a good response to this? If so, when do you think you would begin pairing up the competitors? I'd like to participate, but my CPU is giving me difficulties, and I won't have a new one for a few weeks... so if this is going to take a while to get going, I'll jump in... (or perhaps I could get a "bye" for the first round? I could take the chaffee as penalty...)

Thanks!

Were not picking tanks yet damnit!
LOL :D

Well pick tanks later.

Im not familiar with this tank.

I looked it up in the data base and it looks fairly normal.

Besides I know some ppl will pick so awesome tanks like Js-3's and Pershings (were they around by 1945?)

If someone takes a Js-3 vs a M4A1 sherman they will 6....7...8 shermans to play with.

Are tank destroyers and assault guns also accepted ?

Yes

We also need a map.

Everyone is using the same map (sorry but its fair)

Im looking for urban with the corners as the deplyoment zones.

I want checkerboard house sections with streets and buildings forming right angles.

Make the streets long so tanks like the Tiger can use its superior rang but have it clausterphobic as well so amubushs with some light stuff is possible.

If you want to make a map send it to me for approval.
Ill also post it so the ppl playing in the tourny can approve it as well.

But....all this wont happen unless we get more ppl?

I know M4 is sick but id like him to join (if he does what ever version of the M4 he wants is his guranteed thats his get well soon gift)
Also where is goblin, orzel, and some of the others?

Maybe they just havnt read this thread yet.
Pass the word along in your PBEM games asking ppl to join up.

If I remember right, the Panther Uhu has a LOS of ten hexes in any kind of weather. Plus it can see through smoke. Equipped with an IR-device of some sort..

Well I'm in. I stick with the rules - and propose banning Uhu from the battle. (Putting it against a JS-3 would be interesting though...)

Size of battles

Post by stevemk1a »

I'm wondering what size of battle would be most appropriate for these contests ... I would suggest a fair sized force otherwise luck may play too large a role (for example if you had only two King Tigers or JS3's and one of had a main gun malfunction or became immobilized). It may also be a good idea to have seperate 'classes' for early war, mid war, late war that way a greater variety of AFV can be represented... just my .02 cents worth :)

Don't you know? Uhu's are equipped with the FOG (Finger of God) sighting equipment. The details about this awesome device is shrouded in smoke... :D :D :D
