Let's let the cat out....

Post by lordxorn »

Matrix and Codeforce,

This is kind of a friendly ultimatum. [:D]

Give us a release date already! [:@]

I have good reasoning for this request, there are a ton of games coming out with the next three weeks.
Star Wolves 3
Arsenal of Democracy
Making History II
Battlefield 2:Bad Company
Ruse
Achtung Panzer:KArkov
HOI 3 Patch [:'(] (oh that's right it is free)
Much more that escapes my mind, I am sure the community can help with this list.

I need to know when you plan on releasing DW, because then I can plan my gaming budget so my wife don't divorce me. I guess if that happens I could get by with DW.

However, with a release date I can plan better and be sure I won't miss the launch because of a lack of funds.

Thank you in advance for taking time to read this, Eric and Elliot.

I only see three games on that list, aside from the HoI path, that might have the same intended audience as Distant Worlds, an arcade infantry simulator and a casual rts game featuring draconic DRM isn't even in the same universe as DW.
Panzer looks good though.

Dont rush.
I want to see DW as soon as possible but dont rush.
I burn with desire to play this game but it better if this game is good done that buggy like for examples HoI3.
Seriusly Paradox make good games but their are buggy as hell.

I hope DW will be ok and that you are go the same path as Paradox.

ANYWAY thx for info. I dont know that Star Wolves 3 is coming out. First part was really good.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. There are quite a few games that are either just out or imminent, like FLOTILLA that I want to buy. But I am actually holding back at the moment assuming DW is coming out in FEB. If it doesn't I may put DW on the back burner and get something else. Lordxorn, FYI Achtung Panzer is out 25th Feb and you can get it at Gamersgate for £12.70 at the moment.
BTW, has anyone else heard of FLOTILLA? It is by a company called BLENDO GAMES and looks very interesting!!!!!
Huh?

We were aiming for the end of February, but that's looking more unlikely. We've got a few last loose ends to still finish up. I'd say right now we're aiming for the first week of March and we're going day by day as far as any additional time required to wrap this up.

I should add that as noted earlier, we will release this when we are certain that it's _finished_ rather than at an arbitrary date and that can make release dates a bit unpredictable. With that said, we do have an internal schedule that we try to stick to and we are extremely close to release with DW, as noted above.

How does that matter? Gamers are gamers. Games are games.
If a space 4x game and battlefield bad company 2 comes out on the same day, it still matters, they are both competing for your money regardless of the genre, because they are both games :P
I'd speculate that the people who ONLY buy 4x space games and nothing else what so ever, are a tiny minority of the people who'll buy this game.
If you play games, you usually play more than 1 genre :P

Erik, I think you have made a wise decision to look at it from day to day as the issues with Armada 2526 have shown this is a good lesson.

Also Supreme Commander 2 is coming out first week of march.  There's going to be a lot of choices for the gamers out there then.  Right now it's kind of dead...

bah...1 month conservative it looks like. Oh well, it'll hopefully be worth the wait.

At lease I know I can start a new campaign in Empire: Total War. Think I'll try playing as the Knights of Nee. By the time DW comes out I should be close to world domination.

Cheers for the update Erik. It's always good when a company are up front about release dates etc. rather than giving an arbitrary date that doesn't get adhered to! :)

Looks like my 7th March date in the sweepstake thread wasn't as crazy as I thought!

Thank you Eric, now I know I can get another title and plan for purchasing DW in the first week of March. I commend your guy's commitment and clear explanation about the date being felixible. Which I highly respect, and of course I am patient enough for you guys to release when it is done. I wish Codeforce and Mattrix big success with this one, because that usually means a bigger and better sequel.

Thanks for the info on Flotilla very interesting indeed.[:'(]
