Where will it be held (city)? Keep us informed. Thanks. [:D]

Here is the full text of the notice for the con:

World in Flames
GLOBAL CONFLICT : 1939-1945

AUSTRALASIAN CONVENTION 2010

Gidday gamers,
We welcome everyone to join us at Australia’s first ADG endorsed Australasian World in Flames convention (ASIACON 2010) at the Murramamarang Resort South Durras from Friday 19th March to Sunday 28th March 2010.

Location

Murramarang is a beautiful holiday resort on the South Coast of New South Wales.  You can visit its website at www.murramamarang.com.au

There are a few rules and regulations to be observed so do take the time to have a look at their website.

The hall has a capacity for about 10 tables and the accommodation is a two minute walk away.

Accommodation

We have secured an arrangement whereby the Chalet accommodation, each chalet having two bedrooms and a common area, will cost $100 a night.  You can either share a chalet or have one for yourself at $100 per night.

We will make the bookings for you and take care of any deposit but you will be responsible for all of the costs including reimbursing us for any deposit we make on your behalf.

How to get there

The South Durras turn off is about 4 Km (3 miles) north of Batemans Bay on the Princess Highway.  Murramarang is at the end of South Durras.  If you drive it is very easy; if you come by bus we will arrange to pick you up in Batemans Bay

Registration

Fill out the registration form on this homepage.

Send it to:  rsonsie@optusnet.com.au

You will receive notice within a week of your reg. form arriving.

Priority is speed of play, skills and deluxe or classic. Most players will want to play the 39 deluxe campaign.

About 4 weeks before the con (Mid February) you’ll get a list of the players on your table, so you can agree on exact starting time, who brings a game, detailed optional rules and so on. Note that there is always the possibility of a last minute change to the players on your table if some players don’t show up at the last minute.

Convention Cost

There is no registration fee, but there is a convention charge of $150 to cover the costs of running the convention.  This cost will also include an end of convention dinner.

Rules

The 2003 World in Flames Final edition rules will be used with both sides "bidding" for MP and Victory hexes. (You can of course also agree with the other players on your table as to whom plays what...). Teams will decide between themselves which optional rules they will play and we are happy to help resolve any issues that may arrive when deciding which options will be included in your game.

If you already have a team in mind let us know and we will match you with a team that appears to have similar skills.

We look forward to seeing you at one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches for 9 days of sun, surf, blood and gore.  One of the game’s designers, Harry Rowland, will be competing and looks forward to challenging you to see who is the greatest Wiffer in the Southern hemisphere.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me at my email address above.

Regards

Ray Sonsie
Convention Convenor

I am definately planning on going.
95% sure.
Just a few loose ends before I confirm my entry.
At least one other player in our group in Newcastle NSW is in the same boat.
Not sure weather 2 , 95% gives
2x95=190%???

Open to all suggestions.
Probably a bit far to drive and a car will be somewhat superfluous once there. I would imagine flying into Canberra or Sydney and then ? train or ? bus down but at this stage have done no research into it al all.
Any ideas?

I am not familiar with the south coast.
Used to live out west now retired in Newcwstle.
However my best guess would be to fly to Sydney.
Usually that is reasonably priced.
Regional airfares if they exist are expencive in NSW.
Will try to make a few phone calls to some friends on south coast tonight regarding travel from Sydney

Hello christo,
Talked to a few people
Here is what I would do if I was in Adelaide and I could convince at least one other to come with me
Fly to Sydney.
Hire the cheapest car I could find at the airport for one day.
Drive down the coast.
Drop off the car.
Bum lifts etc at the convention.
Going home revese the process.
This should be reasonable cost.
and a mininium of pain.
as always Mr Phelps if you or any of you crew is killed or caputure the agency will disavow any knowledge of you!!
LOL

Serendipity strikes!!!

Post by Greyshaft »

We live in Sydney but my wife's sister lives in Braidwood just inland of Bateman's Bay. So if I drop her and kids (a 4 y.o. + a 4 month old) off at Braidwood for a family visit then I can continue on to Murramarang for a day or three of WiF gaming and pick her up on the way back.

A nine day WiFcon? It's great in principle but I can't see too many married men with kids being there for the whole event.

OK... I'll be there!

I've negotiated a family vacation to that resort for the first three days of the nine day WIF convention... so I guess I'll wind up playing France :(

Anyone else going?

According to Ray's email on the weekend there are 19 confirmed with 2 people who will be there for some of the time. Four games are envisaged.
