I had the same issue with the WitP AE beta. Is this a beta patch issue?

I get the same message. I just OK'd it and finished the install and the game seems to work okay.

We're checking into this - could you all tell us what operating system you are running? Is it Windows 7 64-bit?

Problem occurs on Windows 7 x64.

What should be written to or read from the registry at this point of the installation process (error happens at the end of installation process before the "Finish" screen appears (or at the same time)?

The last WITP AE beta patch has the same issue.

This is actually an issue with a script that is setting permissions to the game's registry keys. It's not a critical function at all, so the error should not impact the patch, but it's annoying and we're working to figure out why it's happening on Windows 7 64-bit (only that OS, so far).
