Crash with 1.024 installer

Post by PDiFolco »

The patch installs fine at first, but after the choice to update .net/DX I got this (attached)

It seems that the game files are properly install but cannot say for the rest (I had already everything up to date).
I got the same error with the beta and the official 1.024 installers.

It's a Matrix installer issue, so I can't comment on the problem, but you can go to Microsofts site and download the latest version of DirectX
You probably don't need the .Net update. It's just to fix the problem some people had saving games.

Please see my response in the other thread. That's not a crash, it seems to be an error with setting some of the registry permissions only on Windows 7 64-bit (I assume that is also your operating system?). It does not prevent the update from completing and it is not required for the update to work properly, so no harm no foul. Go ahead and play and thanks for the report.

When I tried to install the patch (Vista Home), my Norton went berserk and told me the patch was a 'major threat' and auto-quarantined/deleted it. :/

That would be Norton's fault, the patch is no threat at all to your system.
