I'm not sure I've ever seen a forum for a new, unknown game...

Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. Experience the full depth and detail of large turn-based strategy games, but with the simplicity and ease of real-time, and on the scale of a massively-multiplayer online game. Now greatly enhanced with the new Universe release, which includes all four previous releases as well as the new Universe expansion!

...exponentially multiply as much as I have this one, in really the span of 2 weeks! I've seen long, LONG buildups for games on Matrix, and I've seen lots of games come and go... but this game has kind of exploded onto the scene. I really, really hope DW is great.

Matrix (Erik!) I hope you're noticing... :-)

I believe it is because of Distant Worlds unique approach to 4x, and all the juicy content that has been teased out to us. I truly hope it is successful as well, because this genre needs a new champion. I am tired of hearing MOO this, and MOO that. [8|]

Distant Worlds, in my book, has a significant underestimated potential and to be honest, looks like sheer liquid wonderment. I wish Codeforce and Matrix games the very best and hope there is substantial success with the release of this game.

Really is it that extraordinary?

Yes.

Considering how few people had ever heard about this game - I have been part of Matrix for a while, even before I registered on the forums (check my date) and I very closely follow all types of games (I'm a board game designer as a hobby) the amount of interest in this game is extraordinary. Remember, we're not talking Total War or MOO here. This came out of (to us) literally nowhere, and I think it's a credit to a) the lack of good 4X games out there and b) what is being promised - it basically sounds like 'the perfect 4X' to a lot of people. Regardless, the groundswell of activity is notable for an indie developer with an heretofore largely unpublicized title.

But yes, absolutely, I think this game has a chance to really make waves in this genre. And if you notice my # of posts vs. my time here, I don't post often or lightly. I absolutely believe in the concept and promise of this game.

I am also very optimistic and hopeful about this game, but I didn't realise that the amount of attention was particulary high.
