An appeal

Gentlemen,
I have been around this game for a very long time, although I am new to the forum here. It was not so very long ago that the Harpoon community was very vibrant, full of ideas, and still had the ability to debate those ideas civilly without resorting to personal attacks.
It is my hope that this spirit can return. As someone who owes my own career to an interest that began from the very first version of paper harpoon, which was NOT perfect, but it opened my eyes to a whole world of possibilities that have allowed me in the years since to travel to nearly every continent on the planet. No matter what, we will not have a "perfect" game..it is not possible...but for anyone wanting more reality than this from a warfare sim, I suggest that you go to the nearest recruitment facility. There, you will enlist, go through even just a 2 yr stint in ANY military, and you will see that oftentimes things do not work the way they are advertised or intended. Now, if this game models reality and real life platforms, that themselves have "bugs" how can ANY of you expect the model to be better than what it is modelled after?
In short, we are all here because we enjoy this game..if we don't, there are many other places to be. And if we do, we should be more open to ideas, we are all at least somewhat the same.

I don't think anyone is asking for or expecting perfection.  Personally, I would like to see a level of function as high as H2 or H3 (15 and 5 years old, respectively) that is conspicuously absent from ANW.

I spent much of a thread discussing with you why some of what you considered as bugs, I did not. You DO have every right to see them as bugs, I am actually glad you are involved. My point is only, that it is incorrect to demand everyone see things in the same way. For what it's worth, I admire your tenacity, and your drive. I also think that AGSI and Matrix can benefit from it. However, it just seems that sometimes you forget that we are on the same team in the end. A disagreement should not lead to insults. Disagreeing over tactics, etc takes place in every officer's mess I have seen. But in the end, we are on the same side. I believe that you want this game to succeed, because regardless, it is still the best naval warfare simulation available, at the moment at least. Does it have issues? Certainly. But advertising AGAINST it, will not help those issues to be resolved. Talking people out of purchasing what still despite the issues is an accurate simulation of naval warfare, only hurts the odds of any improvements ever being made. You have an attention to detail that COULD be a great asset. It is my hope, that you use it as thus.

I am pretty certain that I have no effect on whether or not anyone does or does not purchase this game. I do not recall ever saying anything other than words to the effect, "Look at the list of problems and decide for yourself. If this game is performing satisfactorily for you, then buy it. Just don't complain afterwards about things that are already public knowledge." There is (no longer) any way for AGSI to hide their deficient behaviours.
