Widescrean support
How to add the widescrean support ?
The Quick Launch = what? Is it the application or .exe?
After I press propoties, how do I insert the data edit it ?
I got 1680 by 1050 resulution.
I did check the readme, but think I did not understand how to do it.

But were to add it, how to edit the file?
RE: Widescrean support
On your desktop AE shortcut - right click and select properties - in the Shortcut tab - add the command line switch in Target:
Mine looks like this - "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -cpu4 -multiaudio -px1440 -py0900 -w

RE: Widescrean support
Note for those lazy folks like me who like to cut and paste the command line switches right off the What’s New .pdf file. Apparently something is amiss with some of the – symbols and it does not translate properly when pasted into the games shortcut.
I had to go in and delete all the – symbols and manually add them via the keyboard to get the widescreen support to work. I changed them all to be safe, not sure exactly which ones are screwy in the .pdf, but changing them manually did the trick.

You click on where you want to edit that line in the properties area and type in the command switches you want (usually the end of the line). So you would type -px1680 -py1050 at the end of the line on you properties. There is no order dependency on these.
As mentioned above the copy paste method doesn't always work. The"-" in the PDF is not the same character as the "-" you type (they just look the same).
I must admit this is the only part of the game I understand.[:)]

RE: Widescrean support
This did not work for my yesterday but after the new patch it does. Try the new patch and readed the "whats' new" for the desktop shortcut command line parameters

RE: Widescrean support
For those still having issues, this is what's on my shortcut and it's working fine so far.
"Shortcut path" -px1680 -py1050 -deepColor
It's running fullscreen and in widescreen.

RE: Widescrean support
Why wouldnt the designers make it so that the resolution can be changed in the game settings section rather then the command line??

Thanks Jim. I'm one of those lazy people , who is also unsure about my typing. I'll keep this in mind! [&o]

Do not copy and paste, type commands in manually.

RE: Widescrean support
For me it was important to have the -deepColor option added. Turns out my VirtualBox monitor will only support the color depth set by my host operating system (32 bit) and by default WitP uses something less. Thus the requirement of the -deepColor parameter.

Bugger. They didn't fix this problem.... [:(]ORIGINAL: Jones944
I got 1280x800 to work, but I've found that at that resolution (native for my laptop screen) the mouse scrolling no longer works on the right or the bottom edges of the screen. Map scrolling when moving the mouse to the top or the left edge of the screen works as normal.
Something around detecting when the mouse is at the edge or bottom of a wide screen setup is missing.

show a screen shot and btw there is nothing to fix.

If you are using windowed mode, you need to go to the edge of the screen, not the window.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is. - Manfred Eigen

Screen attached. As can be seen, 1280x800 works. However, when putting the mouse cursor on the right edge or the bottom edge of the screen the map does not scroll. When placing the mouse cursor at the top of the screen or the left edge of the screen the map scrolls.ORIGINAL: BigJ62
