Unit Movement?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

During movement phase when you select a unit will the game show you how far a unit can move, move and then attack or move and dig-in?

Someone said: there is no plotting such as in WiR. So how does it work ? Pointing with the mouse where one wants to go ?

From my reading of the forum so far, the game will play just like SSG's decisive battles series (Ardennes Offensive was released in 1992 and Kharkov is the latest)

So the answer to you're question is "yes".

Movement and combat occur in the same phase and both use movement points so you can move and attack, move again and attack, etc. as long as you have sufficient movement points. Units dig in by being stationary for the entire turn.

You select a unit or stack of units and you can see the cost to move to any particular hex within range.

Heres a ss... You left click on a unit then it has a pink outline, and displays more info on the right toolbar. As you move the mouse around a movement path is displayed with movement points to be expended. Once I right click on the hex the unit will move there...The units outlined in yellow are other units in the corps, the corps Hq is outlined in orange...

It would be nice to see the movement point expenditure per hex to get some place, maybe by hitting the shift key. Say a number in the hex. So if I got 24 MF and it costs me only 12 to get someplace I might be able to do quick calcuations as to how many attacks you can squeeze in with the movemnt points you got left.

You can turn that on as an option. It might be on by default, can't recall offhand.
