I heard about you guys doing fly-bys of Soviet ships and cursing out the radio intercept guys. From what I heard, great fun was had by all.....

No , that would be an unfriendly act. We'd never do that. They had guns and we had cameras. You do the math![:D]

What we would do is take an old sonobouy over pack tube (the ubiquitous tubes that lined the passageways on Star Trek TOS) and load them with all kinds of goodies. Charmin toilet paper, Sears and Roebuck catalogs, candy, cigarrets, Playboys, various newspapers and magazines and last of all , several airline sized "nips" of Jack Daniels and other western booze. We, fit he tube with a streamer , then drop it right in front of the ship. They knew what was in them! The Zampolit (commissar) had a tough time keeping that stuff away from the troops. Of course we'd enclose a couple of US Embassy Moscow cards , in case anybody wanted to visit us later. [:D]

Thats a friendly act? Personally, I'd rather get cursed at that be subjected to Jack Daniels. [:D]

Compared to the engine lubricant they'd been drinking (no hype, they would drink anything with alcohol in it) it was nectar from capitalist heaven! [:D]

You drive yourselves? [X(]

I thought you all had chauffers for that sort of thing. I mean, how would you catch up on the London Financial Times or do the scramble if you were driving yourselves?

What was the last time you drove in NYC?

Ah , NYC is easy! I'll trump that. BOSTON ny friend! [:D]

OK, yes, I'll agree with that. [:D]

No in that regard , I'm what is technically called a "camp follower". I may get a check from thje Government , but no longer work for them. Now if Smithsonian will finally come to their collective senses.......[:D]

When they do, put in a nice word for me.

You want to work for them or be an exhibit? [:D]

Oh, Goodness Thread that's funny!

Erm (wipes tear from cheek)...let's just say that I respectfully disagree with your point of view on this topic.

Why?
When you buy me a beer as AS1Steve's hosted AE get together in Nebraska this August, I'll be happy to go into it in more detail...

Until then, it's likely a little political for THE THREAD, so I'll let it rest there.[:)]

Errr....CB? It's AW1 Steve. Not AS. And AS is a sub tender. AW stands for Air Warfare operator (or in my day , Aviation Anti-submarine warfare operator), I might tend bar , but I never tend subs! (tend to , as in sink them , yes). Just a point "for the good of the order".[:D]
