Boosting the AI

Post by Drambuie »

Hi,

Just thinking of starting a human Japanese vs AI Allied single player game, was wondering if anyone can recommend any changes to the starting setup to boost the AIs chances a little (realise it will still be limited of course).

Was thinking along the lines of adding daily supply/fuel to some bases, adding repair shipyards or anything else. Really things that may help get around AI limitations.

Or is there a mod anyone can suggest that would do such a thing anyway?

Cheers

Agreed, the Ironman Scenario (#10) included in the game includes some good improvements to make the Japanese a tougher opponent.

But the OP is wanting to play the Japanese with the AI playing the Allies. Does Ironman bump up the Allied AI?

Yes there are 2 ironman scenarios 1 vs japanese , 1 vs allied

The link of the vs allied is :

tm.asp?m=2376420

The one vs Japanese is included in the game

Andymac made has added a lot of ships and modified the AI for Iron man. This is a very tough scenario to play. the scenario should be played at difficult level as a minimum.

Ah ok will take a look at that.

Having peeked at the editor have a further question -  is it no longer possible to edit bases themselves - ie shipyard sizes etc? Seem to recall being able to do this in WITP years back to give the AI a boost.

Thanks for the help!

No idea how I managed to misread that. Sorry. Yes, there is also an Allied version, though its not included in the game by default if memory serves me correctly.

Meant to reply sooner and say thanks [:)]

However if I don't want to simply boost the amount of stuff the AI gets and let it use the normal OOB are there are changes anyone could recommend to certain bases etc?

Eg. add daily fuel/supply to certain places like Darwin for example, bases in China, isolated places that the AI may struggle to supply etc effectively. Also prduction of aircraft, replacement squads or whatever.

Am I right also in thinking the AI doesn't use shipyards as a human player would?

Thanks ... sorry to bombard with questions!

Depends on which side you are playing

If Japan +1000 Fuel, Supply per day at Tokyo

+100 of both per day at Truk, Tinian and Naha
+300 per day fuel at Camranh Bay and Bangkok

Also add

100,000 HI points to starting stock
100,000 Naval Points
50,000 Armamanet Points

Add replacement rates of say 5 per month to each Japanese aircraft (not producuction - replacement)

Maybe increase at start fuel stock at babelbab and Truk

There are Ironman Scens that do this kind of stuff and more for both sides just take the base range for those scnearios and apply to a basic scneario if you dont want the OOB adjustments
