RE: THE THREAD!!!
Thanks for the kind works, Brothers. [:)]
I still can't help that I'm allowing another to drag me down into the mud, where they can beat me with experience. [:D]

Don't get down in the gutter with him . Hold the high ground, respond with dignity and integrity , as you always do , and you'll never have to worry about sinking that low. My problem is I let my temper get the better of me, then I'm happy to wallow in the muck, and try to drag them down with me. I've skirted the ragged edge so many times , and not been aware of it , that I've decided to follow Brother Mynok's advice. If he thinks I'm being an idiot , I don't do it. And he generally thinks I'm an idiot![:D]

So Dixie , are we counting this as 70's number or 80's? If I recall Blondie released it in Europe in 79. And other places in 1980.[&:]
I dont know about you, but I'm disregarding it completely. [:D]

Gentlemens, after 36 hours of wait, i got a turn in my inbox, so i leave you for a while
in french (much more commonly said):
hey les gars, apres 36 heures d'attente, j'ai un tour dans ma boite, alors je vous laisse pour un moment [:)]
...so much more sophisticated that way. [:D]

And how did that finish for you chaps? [:'(]

Hah! It's impossible to be "too" pasternakski. It's like saying the Washington Monument is "too" phallic or the Marilyn Monroe air-up-the-dress shot was "too" pneumatic or the pizza and sex you just had were "too" good.ORIGINAL: JWE
Sorry, am I getting too Pasternakski with this? Don't mean to be, just having fun.
So what are you trying to say? [&:]

Didja ever read "The Forever War" by my old pal Joe Haldeman? Time travel is routine. Missions can cross hundreds of years, so that you never know whether you're confronting an enemy vastly more advanced technologically than you or so hopelessly primitive that they're cake.ORIGINAL: Dixie

I dunno. The gay thing never did it for me.
Apparently it's all the rage amongst the trendier gentlemen these days.
He posits that the human race is inexorably "trended" toward homosexuality, so that the persistently hetero "hero" of the book winds up being referred to by his troops as "the old queer."
Lousy book like just about all sci-fi, but a lot of fun to read.
I picked up a copy (Bob recommended it, iirc). Good read, but not what I would call sci-fi, per se. More like musings on human nature set in a vaguely futuristic environment.

Pffft, typical faber-centric twaddle. Next you'll be telling us that it's suitable for two faberers to be parents
together. It's un-natural I say! You know who else used to Faber? Nixon [:-] And Adolf Hitler, he Fabered Poland you know. And don't get me started on Tom Cruise, we all know he's a faberer. Not to mention Muslim extremists.
Famous non-faberers include Ghandi and Mother Theresa. And Jesus. None of those people ever commited a faber.
As militantly extremist as you are, Dixie, Thread help us all if you ever found a cause. [:D]
