Does capturing an enemy colony extend range?

Post by zvo001 »

Recently purchased the game and am playing for the first time. I went to war and captured an enemy colony. However, capturing that colony did NOT extend my ship range, so I can not continue into the enemy's empire. I had assumed that taking over an enemy's colony and making it my own would extend your ship range just like founding a colony with an ark ship. Am I missing something here? Do you only get to extend ship range when you found your own colonies?

After you capture the colony, you have to wait until the next turn for the range marker to expand.

If you capture an enemy colony, you have to build the relay station to extend your range.

Thanks Ntronium!  The relay station is what I didn't know about (don't remember seeing it in the manual).  I thought I was missing something!!  [:)]
