Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Hart, btw whats your name? I hate handles...Anyway divisions do excert ZOC's the same. Where it differs is where 2 opponents have the same zone. Makes sence, you didn't take it yet...Now what Gary and Joel came up with, which at first I didn't like, but have grown to love is a unit can't be surrounded and surrender the same move...So it makes you secure a pocket then destroy it the next turn...

My name is Steve.

Hi Jon,

Are you playing with the more aggressive AI that was introduced into elmo's game?

The Red line is for Axis Allies northern limit, the Finns don't use that one. I believe the color will change on those lines before release...As far as the AI, I played this game last month. Most of our updates come out on Thursdays and was waiting until then for a new start. Every update is getting a better AI as we send saves into Joel...Just though I'd throw another bone out there for you guys...

What happens if a non-German Axis unit is next to the line, has to retreat, but can't retreat on "their" side of the line? Will the unit rout to the rear?

Neven seen that happen. I have seen units move north of the line as long as the end their movement south of it. Units can retreat 2 hexs if needed for stacking, so my guess it would move to the hex north of the line then one more to end up south of it...

Ok this is turn 7. I have 4 ss's to show...This time I'm showing a neat feature. I'm in a mode that shows units that are static (white), refit (blue) and reserve (pink). In 42 there is a huge lack of trucks, so placing units in and out of static is tricky but needed. Theres only so may AP's (admin points) to do so...So I'm going from north to south...Leningrad area. Most of it is static, with 2 divisions in reserve. Reserve units can respond (leader die roll) during the opposing turn...

Hi Jon,

So divisions in refit do not have to be withdrawn from the frontlines?

Guess I'll give a last one. What about the straits, just enough to secure them and dig in.

Steve asking questions and I'm not even done posting yet...lol...I still have to many active units to run my units at 100%. So even though Mech units can have 50mp's, most in great conditions only start with 37mp's...Ah, thus balance act...
