This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

leaders

Post by bush »

Hello. After quite a struggle I have finally been able to use my promo code and get the game. Have just started reading through the rules, so it will be awhile before I am actually gaming. When I do I will be using the standard scenario and leading the French.

I looked under the hood a bit to see what leaders I would be starting with. I was surprised to see Grouchy and Kellerman represented. Kellerman, while an original marshal, was more of an honorary selection at that time. Grouchy did not become a marshal until 1815. Meanwhile, Mortier did not show up on the list. Also, I would think that any and all the 'fighting" marshals would at least deserve to be there, even in 1805. The only exception I would make would be Poniatowski. So, I know it is possible for some leaders to appear as reinforcement, is that when I might expect to see MacDonald, Victor, Oudinot, and especially, Suchet? Also, do any of the other generals show up, particularly some of the Cav. leaders?

Finally, I know trying to give a rating to these men is always going to be subjective. That said, I believe Ney is definitely overrated.

Looking forward to immersing my self in this game for quite awhile, so I hope the action on this forum picks up a bit!

In the mod section there is a generals list that someone put together for the 1796 scenario -- generals appear in their historical date of "arrival".

You can also mod the generals list of names who appear following a great victory.....that list is usually a bit weak, and Mortier is not on there as designed.

If hindsight is 20/20, what is foresight?
